Transmission 545RFE

Hi I recently had my 2005 WK serviced and the report returned included comments indicated '2C and LR reading above specification, keep in observation'. My question is, what impact would this have on my transmission i.e. what problems should I expect with these being above spec?

Re: Transmission 545RFE

I would guess they were talking CVI's (clutch volume index) which is an indication of clutch pack wear. I am not a trans guy fortunatly for me, but if there is no problem with how it drives don't worry about it. The CVI's are for the computer to know what to expect when it goes to apply the clutch, so it takes into account wear. If you have trans issues it is good information for the tech to have prior to removal and dissassembly. Clutch wear or a damaged seal that would cause high CVI can lead to slipping and eventually an inability for the trans to function in certain gears. Good to know for future reference but personally (again, if it drives just fine) it sounds like a trans tech scrounging for work during a slow period at work.
