Re: Transmission CVI Relearn/Reflash

I live in Dallas so frequent sub freezing events are pretty rare.

Jeepgcoman, I still havent purchased a tuner yet as the shop hasnt been in Dallas yet. I am wondering if a Diablo Trinity would work? I assume if i buy a predator and a dashhawk separately it'd cost more than the trinity which seems to be both in one. Anyone know if the Diablo Trinity can perform custom tunes?

Re: Transmission CVI Relearn/Reflash

I don't know about the Trinity, as I never used one or heard/seen any pro or con reports on it. It does appear that it has more capablilities, but it's display looks a little confusing(busy). I am comfortable with both DS and DashHawk, since I have them both on my Hemi Magnum. As far as the Predator, have you checked to see if there are any CMR tuners in your area? I know from my LX forum travels there is a DCX Hemi specialist somewhere in Texas. I paid $289 for the DS and $250 for the DashHawk. It appears that the Trinity runs around $600-700, so it's close to a wash. In any case, some sort of engine/transmission monitoring device is imperative, IMO. Let us know which direction you go. If you go the Trinity route I am sure we would all be interested in a review once you get a handle on it.

Oh, here's a couple pix of my DashHawk mounting in the WK.

Re: Transmission CVI Relearn/Reflash

Well after reviewing the cost im pretty sure the trinity is out of the picture. Im not going to spend that kind of money for performance and data logging in a 4x4 suv! lol Maybe a Vette or my old CTS-V but not in a jeep. Anyone use that Rev app for the iphone? http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/
I thought about getting it in my cts-v but there were better things to spend on. Seems like a reasonably priced solution to monitor the engine. From the video i've seen on you tube, the processing speed definitely isnt real time and there is a bit of delay on the gauges, but the wireless setup would be cool and it should show enough variable to make sure the engine is running safely.

Currently money flow will be allocated as:

Transmission rebuild
Install Magnaflow Muffler
Diablo Predator
Bilsteins

Then i'll worry about the data logging etc.. Also the shop that built my engine is flying in a guy from Florida to custom write some tunes for them and it is my understanding he will also be the guy dyno tuning my WK. I believe they are buying a bunch of blank predators and will write custom tunes to them for future customers. The transmission should be done Tuesday, so im hoping the tune wont be much longer but i guess that all depends on when that guy is coming.
