Transmission Fluid in Radiator?

(Ugh! Sorry about the typo in the thread title)

Hey guys, I've had my tranny rebuilt a couple times and it failed again. I recently got one from a junkyard with 10k miles on it and installed the transgo shift kit into it. I also got a new torque converter with a 400-800rpm higher stall speed which has been really nice. I've had it in for a couple weeks now and all is fine until this evening. I take off from a light and i make it about 20 yards and all the sudden it feels like the emergency brake is on. Reverse is fine but drive doesnt do much. No engine lights or anything. I then put it in 4wheel low to get to safe spot. I turn it off, then back on and its fine. Well with 80k on it i immediately head to Autozone and pick up some fluid for a T-Case fluid swap which i did this evening. I only got about 1.5 qts out of it, but got 3qts back into it. I was surprised because i thought others said they only got like 1.75qts back in.

I'm sure the fluid swap will help things and regardless needed to be done. The tranny and diff fluids were done not too long ago so those should be good. Anyway through my searching on similar issues, i found a couple threads where transmission fluid got into the coolant. I found the complaints but never the reasons or solutions. I can see in my coolant reservoir there is green fluid at the top and orange/brown fluid at the bottom. I just assumed during my engine being done they must have mixed some orange fluid with green fluid or something. But now im a bit worried it could be tranny fluid. I would imagine orange coolant + green coolant would mix to create and equally brown coolant, however my reservoir is bright green at the top and not so bright at the bottom. So either the different color fluids have different densities or its some other type of fluid.

Im not sure the density of coolant, but in comparing water + oil the oil ends up on top, so i would think tranny fluid would float on coolant. I suppose a radiator flush could put my concerns to rest but just wanted to ask and see if anyone else has run across this.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks guys!!

Here's the tranny in my spare bedroom where it lived for almost a month. I replaced the solenoid and all sensors. I cleaned it up and sprayed it with some dark blue engine paint. I should have a completed pic somewhere...

Re: Transmission Fluid in Raditor?

RDP Motorports did the tune and transmission swap for me. Its great to finally have my engine tuned properly. Steve did an excellent job and it feels so much better than it did before. Here's some pics of other things going on in their shop. This Bronco was sick! The interior was full of toggle switches, i wonder what engine they have in there.

Any many of you already know of BDKarma

Re: Transmission Fluid in Radiator?

Well thanks for all the useful information guys!! lol Looks like it was just a false alarm I drained, flushed, and refilled the cooling system. Once i had the overflow reservoir empty i realized its just darker at the bottom. Yellowed overtime from the heat or the coolant. Either way i suppose all is fine and now i have new T-Case fluid and new coolant! Just in time for my 1st northern winter

Re: Transmission Fluid in Radiator?

Yea its definitely a change from Dallas. At this point it's still fun/exciting but im told it could last until March. Im sure I'll be sick of it by then. The Jeep has been great in the snow though. Im glad i sold the BFG MT's and went for the Hankook AT's, they have been doing really well in the weather and the ride is much smoother
