I was looking into this product for my jeep. Did anyone install this? I dont want to do any damage to the transmission, can this cause damage to the transmission????

#45LPB / #68LPB. This family of transmissions uses a full range line pressure sensor mounted on the outside of the transmission for "closed loop" line pressure control. Due to this system, traditional methods of raising line pressure by changing the PR spring or valves have no effect. This Line Pressure Booster alters the pressure signal sent to the computer causing the computer to raise line pressure. The 68RFE has a 10-15 PSI increase and the 45RFE and 545RFE has a 15-30 PSI increase. Higher line pressure increases clutch holding power and torque capacity. Changes in shift feel will be noticed mostly under aggressive driving or loaded conditions. This part is ideal for heavy duty and modified vehicles and even stock transmissions when a little extra pressure is desired. No other modifications are required. The Line Pressure Booster installs between the pressure sensor and vehicle harness using OEM style sealed connectors. Simply unplug the vehicle harness and reconnect with one of these parts. Cost $49.00

I ordered it last week. Plan to install it after my tranny gets rebuilt. After more and more research on our transmissions, my guess is this is similar to one part of the transgo kit.

One of the last steps of the transgo shift kit is to solder a diode to the same connector. My guess is it does something along the lines of stepping down the voltage of the pressure signal which causes the pcm to raise the pressure. I have read that installing that diode can be a pain, so my guess is this just has the diode built into a factory connector making it easier to install and uninstall. Since this thing costs about the same as the cheaper transgo kit i thought about canceling the order but im sure its on its way already. If nothing else it's easier to install than soldering a diode.

Let us know how it works out.

I actually just added to the order. I found a transmission shop that will allow me to provide the parts and still warranty the tranny. I just ordered the performance version of the transgo kit, new filters, and the Alto Red Eagle clutches. Hopefully i'll have a great review of all these parts at together, but as far as that line pressure booster by itself, someone else may need to try it out

so i got this wire thingie to try out about 3 weeks ago now..ive noticed the shifts do have a little bit more of a firmer feel under a hard accel. this wasnt something you notice like "holy crap my trans is totally different" but u do notice a little something..this weekend ill hook my boat up and give it a tow..i just havent done it yet to try it.

as far as worth $50?
its up to you. your not going to feel $50 difference. but it supposedly is holding the clutches tighter which would be a payoff. so that is my input so far.

Thank you!
I have found it on Paramaunt Performance. It's really impressive.
BUT... custom valvebody is not the same thing as Line Pressure Booster. Valvebody is a real tune-up the transmission. The booster is simply electrical trick. Am I right? And prices are different....

AFAIK, the booster is needed for the 545RFE tranny (Overland/Limited). The Valvebody is the upgrade on the NAG1 tranny (SRT8).

Peter spill the beans here please :D
I wanna know too ... LOL
Sheesh -- we have to get Bill on here as a supporting vendor (if I get banned its your fault!) ;D
Paramount Performance Products. Bill makes the best driveline upgrades for SRT Jeep and the LX/LC cars (charger, 300c, challenger). I believe he can also work on the 545RFE tranny as well but I'll have to double-check that.

i noticed a big difference with the booster installed. The truck seems to have got used to it a little but it definatley is a nice improvement over stock. Like it says, you notice it A LOT more at WOT but the difference can be felt overall. It also shifts a lot quicker.

BTW, I heard from Bill (Paramount Performance) today, so just to whet your appetites:

My flex plates for 545RFE are about 3 weeks out and the torque converters are ready for testing. They are based on the highly successful NAG1 converters although the 545 converter will have a billet cover which the NAG1 does not. The 545RFEs I have built previously are holding up well.

How's them apples?

Where are they located? I heard of a local SRT8 with a turbo 427 in it and he had a tranny built in North Carolina i believe? Only good aftermarket tranny i've heard of is from Sharadon Performance in Minnesota

I search for Paramount and found a company based in the UK, is this them?

I think it only raises pressure at certain parts in the tranny? I dont think the whole system is sealed or else you'd probably shoot the dipstick into the engine bay. I think the dipstick enters right above the cooler lines. But who knows it could increase that issue for sure. I think it's only like a 15psi difference though

I tryed to install my Sonnax Line Booster but had a hard time taking off plug on the tranny does anyone who installed one on a Jeep WJ have any suggestions on how i can remove it

It's been awhile since I put mine on, but as I recall it's a real tight fit. Seems to me I had to use a screwdriver of something to unlock the plug and then some kind of hood device to get the plug off. I think I had to use the screwdriver to push it back on too. Sorry I am not much help, but it's been over a year, and it didn't cause me enough problem that I would remember it.

thanks anyway im going to give it another shot tomorrow after work. since u had it for a year on ur truck have had any problems with this mod and how well does it work with ur other mods like the superchips and diablo tuners.

#27 · (Edited)
I haven't had any problems at all, and I think it works great with either tuner. I am currently using the DS tuner because I am going racing at the end of the month and want to get it set up properly before I go. With the SC tuner and the ATT app. it is superb. You can pretty much set the trans. up anyway you want. I don't care for the 545RFE trans. very much, but these mods. makes it bearable. The NAG1 tranny in my LX is far superior, IMO.

Edit: I will say that when you first put it on, it may not work all that well. As I recall it actually worked like crap at first, until the PCM/TCM figured out something was different. Again, as I recall, it took about a week for it to come into form.
