Trouble closing vented sunroof?

Every once in a while when I try to close the vented sunroof it will start to go down but then stop and return to the vented position. At first I thought some debris got stock in the tracks or something but that didn't seem to be it. I then have to hold down the auto close button.

Does this ever happen to anyone else?

Re: Trouble closing vented sunroof?

Wife had this happen the other day when going to work - couldn't get the sunroof to close once she got there. Luckily it wasn't raining that day, so she left it open all day. Got in to head home and it was working fine.

I will make sure to mention to her that holding the "Close" button should solve the issue.

Re: Trouble closing vented sunroof?

There are some TSB's regarding sunroof operation, check out

http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_tsb.htm

to see if any apply to you guys, might be a good start.

This one specifically is for sunroof not closing on 2006 models.

Re: Trouble closing vented sunroof?

Happened to me too, I think I just made it open all the way then closed it. So it occurs going from vent to close.

Re: Trouble closing vented sunroof?

It did it again tonight and holding the close button didn't do anything. I'm starting to think it may be related to the vent button. After repeated attempts to close from the vented position, I pushed the VENT button once, then tried closing it and it worked fine.

I then vented it again, tried to close it normally--nada. Pushed vent, then close, and it worked.

Re: Trouble closing vented sunroof?

If the Jeep is running and I turn it off (before opening the doors) and I then try to close the sunroof most of the time it will stop half way and I have to press the button again.. as far as the vent goes.. sometimes it "ratchets" shut like the weatherstripping is sticking as it closes.

This is what happened to me as well, when i shut the jeep off, i hit the button to close it (music and everything is still playing inside, power is running) but as soon as i open the door, and the window isnt fully closed yet, then it opens back up.

Re: Trouble closing vented sunroof?

mine did that onece... but I was a dumass and left it open temporarily while I was washing it. I thought for sure water infiltration had something to do with it. Once the liner, switch and everything dried out, hadn't happened since...

Re: Trouble closing vented sunroof?

So you're saying I should wash my Jeep with the sunroof open and it will fix the problem?

Theoretically... yes... Actually I thought I had closed the sunroof.......but it was open about 1/4 of an inch. Didn't realize it until I saw water on the inside... My heart dropped out of my a$$ and there you have it... I was revived on the spot.... and then I drove it home and it dried out..and you know the rest... but don't do what I did....

Re: Trouble closing vented sunroof?

Too late.. I've done it before but good thing our interiors are made of plastic and pleather and water doesn't hurt it.
