I wanted to let everyone know that I can cycle thru the shifter gate it just doesn't go into gear like a connector is disconnected or something.

Just replaced mine, you can get it for $600 at just4jeeps.com and I allso believe there is a coupon somewhere to get it even cheaper.

I ended up getting mine through a buddy who works at a dealer. The install is in a DYI here.

HOW TO: Change out PRND Bezel/Gear Shift

Re: Truck won't shift out of Park at all.......

If it's anything like the shifter in the LX's there is a little plastic part with a tab that retains a spring. When that tab breaks and releases the spring, the same thing happens....you can't shift it out of Park. On the LX there is a little lever (part of the pink plastic part) that you can access, move and allows it to shift out of Park. On the LX's you cannot buy the plastic part. It is part of the whole assembly which is also megabucks. Billet Technologies makes an aluminum replacement, which I have in my LX. It cost about $40, as I recall. Others have modified the stock part, or drilled a new attach point for the spring that is more substantial.

Bottom line, IMO, is to take the assembly out and have a look. I am sure you'll be able to see what is causing the problem, and perhaps find an easy solution. It really sucks, especially if you're stranded somewhere and can't put it in gear. I know most of the LX users are clueless on this and end up paying the mega$$$ for something that is easily fixed. Good luck and I hope you find something similar that is easy to fix. Keep us posted on what you find.

Re: Truck won't shift out of Park at all.......

Wasn't the module afterall. Its the torque converter...it came apart. I just can't believe how much crap I've had to fix on this thing since I've had it. Dealer is doing the work this week, hopefully when I get it back its better or else I'll be trading it in. Thanks to everyone who helped. If you were a poster who had to get a new trans please let me know as I'd like to discuss it more with you to see what yours was doing before it went out.

Mine was working perfectly fine with no problems. The next day I put it in gear to go, and nothing. The mechanic said the pump in the trans failed.

That's what I wonder too. If they haven't torn it apart how can they diagnose it being the converter? They are saying that there is no communication from the trans to the engine which is why the engine revs free but doesn't move. This is by far the largest repair bill ever on any car I've owned.

No didn't have a warranty. Had to pay $2,000 for the rebuild. Hopefully your problem isn't as extreme as mine was.
