Re: Truck wont start!

Could be either Joe.... batteries are a known failure at around this age, and starter failures are also common.

Its still the Mopar batter but the freaking thing looks new, and the terminals are nice and shiny, so either the dealer cleaned a ton of corrosion off the terminals or its new.

Are we able to check the levels in the battery on these? I thought they were sealed "maintenance free"....

I dont think its the starter unless thats causing a draw somehow.

derrrr dylan.

Lord, you just need to have the battery load tested first, alternator output checked at the same time (but it'll be fine). If the battery's ok, it'll be a starter issue.

Re: Truck wont start!

I think I got it resolved. Autozone did a free test on the battery and alternator but they said everything was fine...

So I went to pepboys who wheels out this enormous battery tester and it printed something out saying a cell in the battery was dead.

I replaced the battery the night before last and so far so good.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Re: Truck wont start!

Wow,i thought it was unusual to have a battery go bad after only 4 years, but now it sounds like dodge had some problems with batteries around that time. Exact same thing happened to me about 2 months ago, truck was great for about the first 8 months then all of a sudden the battery wouldn't hold a charge.

My 9 year old Motorcraft battery ifrom the Stang is still working about 80% as well, starts my old 87 Wagoneer just fine(or as well as those things ever did anyway,LOL)

Re: Truck wont start!

The bat could have been low on electrolite or a plate in one of the cells are touching or something. In school we spent tho whole semester on the battery and summed up the rest of the charging system in 2 classes. What a waist cause who repairs batteies now a days...
