Re: Tune-up question on a WK?

Just wondering...

I didn't notice any info on this thread for replacing the PCV valve on an 05 with the 5.7L engine. Is this something relatively simple that could be done easily? Should the oil be drained first? Is the part inexpensive? Paying the dealership ridiculous amounts of money for service is anathema to me, especially since I know these regular maintenance jobs are simple in principle.

Problem is...I don't have a wide array of tools, or a garage, or a level surface to work on, or any experience aside from simple oil changes. So, I probably put off some maintenance longer than I should.

I recently had my tranny fluid checked and I was told I'm not in need of a change but I have no idea when (or if) the filters were replaced and I'm getting some miles on my Jeep. I recently had the diffs and xfer case done (stupid expensive at the dealer but I didn't really trust anyone else to do it right) so I'm not too worried about that. Serp belt looks good. Thanks for the help...

Re: Tune-up question on a WK?

I paid $27 bucks for my PCV valve from Moparpartsamerica and installed it myself... if you can unscrew the oil filler cap you install the PCV valve. It's the exact same motion. Twist left to remove, twist right to install.

I would love to have my own garage to do the work like you guys. Seriously.

I'm jealous.

I have the storage but you're not allowed to do mechanical work there. Same thing with my parking garage.

But im not sure where the PCV is and how much it is, cause ill replace it if its to keep my jeep in good working order.

SHould only use the OEM copper plugs in the Hemi with MDS; the iridiums may work for a liltle while, but when it sarts running bad, that will be the reason just so you are aware.
