Excelent, that was the most likely problem, considering it was the really the only place both systems crossed paths... glad that worked out so well for you!

i didnt know that both of the stalks plugged into the clockspring. once i took it apart i was like DUH this is an easy problem to fix

turns out that i have the wrong clockspring....... mine came from a commander and it is the version without the ESC so the vehicle does not know which way my wheel is pointed and can not make adjustments for steering. it is having trouble making tight right turns, it is not sending the right amount of power to each wheel. i know the part i need is 5143320AF and the part i have is 5143319AE which is the base clockspring. i searched for a clockspring on some mopar sites and it is bringing up completely different parts than it should.


i searched for clockspring and it came up $165 and i searched for the part number and it came up $521. does anyone know what is the difference? i can not find a part number for the first item.

Bummer... your going to want the one with the SCM (steering control module), aka the expensive one. That one will house the steering angle sensor.

Try starting your rig and turn your wheel lock to lock a couple times (I think it only takes one). I know for a fact on LX vehicles a battery disconnect can cause a steering angle sensor not initialized code. Which would cause your issue... Initializing the steering angle sensor is performed (on an LX for sure) by turning lock to lock. I am sorry I dont know if they are the same on the WK.

would i have to have a code? i dont have any codes. it just seems to spin the wheels too much on a tight turn. like when i go from my driveway to my street, the front wheel seems to spin too much now and i lost a bit of driving power (couldnt think of a better way to say that) lol

do you know what the part is listed above that just says clockspring and is $165? i know the clockspring is also called the steering control module that is why i am confused.
