Im getting code P 0430. Has anyone changed their Cats with a universal fir catalytic converter? I have seen people say to put magnaflow ones but there are too many to choose from. Which one will work on my 06 4.7L and make the Check engine light stay off. Ive read that I should put a heavy loaded cat on my jeep, does anyone know about these?

ive went to a few different shops today only to be told that since it is not a direct fit cat, they cannot guarantee that my engine light will go off or how the cat will hold up on my vehicle. Im just hoping that someone has had to replace theirs and can shed some light on what worked with theirs

P 0430 Catalytic bank 2 2/1 below threshhold or something like that...I have put in 4 new o2 sensors and there are no exhaust leaks so I dont know what else it could be.

Because its throwing a code for the catalyst, your O2 sensor is fine... Its telling you that your catalytic converter is not working right. If you needed to replace it, the code would say "oxygen sensor malfunction". That code is P-0310, 0316, etc depending on which one it is. You can try to run some seafoam through it to unclog the cat...but yeah...you need a cat. I believe any 2.5" cat will be fine. the cat is about 6" long on the 4.7

I went to Midas Muffler and they said they did not have a universal for my 4.7 liter. A direct fit from them was 770.00. I purchased one, direct fit on ebay for 399.00 plus 55.00 shipping. I had a 10% off coupon so it cost 414.00. I got the same code as you from Autozone. Took it to the dealer and they verified it and wanted 1100.00. The one I got is

Wow did I get screwed. The Davico did not fit and had to be cut and welded. That would have been fine had it worked. After about a week, I got P0420 and P0430 codes for both sides. Light is back on. Took it to dealer. Dealer says that my engine had three possible cats and no way aftermarket was going to get it right. New one is 1161.00 installed. They ordered it. Before I took it to the dealer the muffler shop that installed it put it back up on the rack. It had changed colors and really overheating. Muffler shop said the converter was not compatible and that's when I decided to go to the dealer. Dealer wanted 240.00 for tune-up and to clean the throttle body. I did that myself for about 30.00 in parts and supplies. No happy ending for Cat replacement however.
