Re: URGENT help needed - wont start 07 WK 5.7L

That is what my 4.7 did when the starter went bad. Some times if you tried to turn it over enough times it would eventually decide to crank. There seems to be a lot of people around here who have had starters go bad in the 50-60k range.

Good to hear! I got my battery from wally, it was like $79 compared to the $150 from Advanced Auto Parts for what appeared to be the same Johnson Controls battery with the same warranty.

Re: URGENT help needed - wont start 07 WK 5.7L

got an error or LOW VOLTAGE on the DTS report at autozone so i wanted on the battery. went to my shop this morning, he tested the alternator and it was fine. put a load on the battery and it crapped all over itself. $150 later ive got a new battery from autozone (3yr replacement) because walmart was sold out and even my shop was $180 for a new one.

Yup, sounded like the starter to me too. Glad a new battery solved your problem.

Just an FYI... When my battery died (at 10 degrees on the tenth floor of a parking garage, from where the tow truck guy gave me a push and I coasted down without power steering and little brake power), the computer got very angry and did crazy stuff. You can't trust the lights because the computer is scrambled. My 06 hemi acted exactly like this, and I also thought it was the starter or alternator. For some reason with the computer upset it doesn't "turnover" or act sluggish, you just get click noises. It was much easier to diagnose problems on my 93 chevy beretta!

Re: URGENT help needed - wont start 07 WK 5.7L

For future reference, if you get the click-click-click, turn on your headlights; if they're dim, or don't come on at all, you're battery and/or alternator is at fault. If they aren't dim (try high beams too, see of you get an intensity 'variation'), then it's likely your starter (or solenoid, for those vehicles with a separate solenoid, or a ground; I've only hide my GC a couple months, so I don't even know what the set up is).
