Question URGENT help needed - wont start 07 WK 5.7L

So I go to get in my car this morning and the jeep won't start. Lights come on, you can hear the aux fan and everything but just a loud repetitive CLICK CLICK CLICK when the key is turned.

Had this problem prior when I drained the battery, so I hooked it up to my charger but so far no luck. The check engine light and oil level lights stay on (despite having enough oil per the dipstick and no leaks on the floor).

The DTS report comes up and shows DONE with no codes. Only error before DTS is "SERVICE 4WD SYSTEM"

No lights were left on, gas is full, etc. Had one problem 2 weeks ago where the jeep stalled on low fuel, that time it didnt respond at ALL to the key being turned but resolved spontaneously in the parking lot a minute later and I thought little of it.

Any ideas? I'm stuck sans car right now and its only 45* out, way too cold to take the ducati for a spin.

ALSO: Should I be charging this at 2 or 6 amps (a couple hours at a time)? Or even 10?

My question is really, does it even sound like the battery (with the check engine and oil lights on?)

i was always told to charge car batteries at 2 amps... let the battery charge, it might be dead... car batteries are notorious when they have been completely drained 1x..

Re: URGENT help needed - wont start 07 WK 5.7L

2 amp charge overnight is ideal to fully charge a battery

but since you are in a hurry with no wheels, the 10 amp setting is fine for 2-3 hour boost

12 volt battery charger, correct?

Re: URGENT help needed - wont start 07 WK 5.7L

damn bro that sucks! try it on 10 for 2 hours

The choices for 12 volt charging are usually 2 amps and 10 amps. Overnight charging will always use the 2 Amp selection! The battery will be charging for 8 or more hours and using the 10 amps charge might overcharge the battery, causing damage to the battery and a possible electrical fire. So don't be afraid, just use the 2 amp selection switch for overnight. If you are in a hurry you can use the 10 amp position (under the 12 volt heading) and you will only need about 2-4 hours to complete the battery charging! It might not be as thorough as leaving it overnight, but it will definitely charge your battery and start your car!

Check engine and oil lights are on because the car isn't on..once you start it back up, they should go away...good luck!

Honestly, I went to Wally world and got one...$79 I think it was, and it has a 3 year warranty!

What makes you say that, vs the battery?

i think with you stating the lights lit up, and u heard aux air, coupled with an attempt at charging, with still no luck, it could be a starter issue. try bangin on the starter while someone cranks it, sometimes thatll get it to go..if this works, u'll know for sure u have a bad spot on the starter motor
