Vacuum line hub?

As I'm due for an oil/filter change in a few miles, I was doing a seafoam treatment in the fuel tank, crankcase, and vacuum line and when I went to disco the vacuum line I noticed what looks to be a crack in the hub that the line connects to. Anybody know what that circular piece the line plugs into is called? Is that slit there by design or is it in fact cracked? If it's a problem, anybody know where I can get another one?

Re: Vacuum line hub?

Nice picture. I just looked at mine and it is solid all the way around, no slit.

I can't tell if you have a real crack or if it is just a nick in the plastic. Take the hose off and see if it continues. If it is a crack it looks easily fixable, I would look into sealing it up with a bonding agent.

Thanks for checking. Mine is definately cracked. Got a new one. Explained in the "What did you do to your WK" thread.

Re: Vacuum line hub?

That is a brake booster check valve. It keeps your power brakes from loosing all of the vacuum when you are on hard throttle and the engine vacuum drops. If you hit your brakes with the key off and the vale is working you may get a couple of pumps before the pedal gets hard to push. You should replace the brake booster check valve it if becomes cracked or starts to leak vacuum. THy didn't cost much at one time 15 bucks but now who knows.
