Re: Wading depth

FYI if anyone ventures down to the Corova area of NC or anyback road area beware of giant "puddles" whether there are tire tracks through it or not. Always let "your buddy with the 35s" go through first. hahaha. I found that out the hard way. It looked safe inched in about a foot or two and fine. Next thing you know the waters up and over the hood!!! Needless to say I had to get a new engine. Thankfully I was able to convince the insurance to cover it since they were non-maintained state roads. I vote they make snorkels for the WKs! The water stayed out of the cabin just not the engine.

Ugly experience...

On a brighter note, nice work on the insurance company!

Re: Wading depth

LOL During Sandy, and after I had to do some high risk water crossings at levels that I saw the lights change color yeah it scared me a bit. Now it seems like the flooding in my area just won't stop every week there's another storm, and flooding. So I've been thinking of getting a snorkel, but I really don't want that thing sticking up. I'm dreaming of making something that could sit just above the cowl area on the passenger side Kinda like what the street Hummer has. I've been thinking of using some tubing from cold air kits. I just need to find some parts, and really look at what else is in that area. If I had designed the WK we wouldn't have this problem.

Well I found out yesterday the hard way that its good to try to check the depth of a "puddle" before you lunge through it. Turns out what looked like a few inches ended up bringing water up to mid front bumper. And the best part is that the drivers side was firmer ground under the water so that stayed up in only about 6" while the right side was sinking down so I was riding a little slanted. But I gained respect for my baby yesterday because she managed to power through it and get back onto dry, safe land.

Re: Wading depth

Had no problems after this mud hole

But almost hydrolocked it going through this one (and yes I know I was going to fast...)

I created so much wake because of my speed that you can't tell how deep that is. The sign said it was 5 feet but it was probably more like 4 at the time. So I'd say somewhere in the middle is safe haha

Re: Wading depth

Def can't handle 4 feet in that WK so much less I would say, but yea too fast.
