Weird Starting Problem

Almost since I got my 08 WK, I've had a problem on certain days where my WK won't start instantly. It seems like mostly on hot days, I turn the key and my jeep won't turn over until the gas gauge reaches the level of how much gas I have. It makes that quick ticking noise as if it were trying to start but will take a few seconds sometimes. I've taken it to my local dealership and they have not been able to replicate it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue or heard of something similar.

Re: Weird Starting Problem

Sounds similiar to a problem i had last summer and it turned out to be a cooked factory battery.

Re: Weird Starting Problem

I have the same problem! Mine is not under warrenty so any input on this would be great!!! in the winter it was fine but now that it is heating up, yesterday it did it again. it might be the battery or connection i will try to tighten up the wire to the battery today.

let you know

Re: Weird Starting Problem

I would check the battery terminals to ,make sure there is no corrosion or blueish green stuff growing on it...LOL. It sounds like the battery to me. I had this problem one time and found the blueish green stuff growing on my terminals after an engine detail...cleaned it up and the battery lasted another 2 years. but when these batteries start to go...they are gone.

Re: Weird Starting Problem

Batteries die after winter when it starts getting hot... had to replace mine right when spring hit.. and just like you all, i had the factory battery.

Re: Weird Starting Problem

I've been having that issue, but my terminals are clean enough to eat off of and I just took my battery to get tested and it came back fine, so it's really weird and drive me nuts.

I do notice a 'pffss' sound briefly coming from the A/C bezel area from time to time (when it doesn't start; everything is off then) and wonder if it has anything to do with the a/c relay (had read something on one of the sites regarding that being an issue for somebody).
