Re: what!!

you can all be jelous of us in oregon (and other places) that are not that strict and once a month I get to sit in traffic for 1hr +/- extra because come broken down hooptie car let a tie rod end go and went into the median on the freeway. Sometimes involving anther poor car with people whom actually repair their vehicle.

In reality I love not having to deal with that crap, at the same time the roads would be so much nicer, if those rules were put into place here oregon would EASILY loose 35% of the current vehicles on the road.

Re: what!!

I think all the inspections that some states do are stupid. Just another way to make money. Some of these people with these junky cars cannot afford anything better, or don't have the ability/funds to maintain their vehicles to the state's standards. For some, a car gets them to work and back, and that is all. Their life depends on it, no matter what it looks like or drives like. Inspections... ****ing communists.

Re: what!!

Lemme get this right? If I move to Utah, I can have 14 wives and nobody pays any mind, but I can't get my Jeep inspected without the proper stickerage? Nice. LOL

In PA here, I got denied my inspection because I had one of those smelly pine trees hanging off my mirror. My first thought was, "why didn't you just put it in the glove compartment and put the inspection sticker on?", then, being that the shop didn't have the good sense to do that, I figured I didn't want them verifying the safety of my vehicle anyway, so I left. Got a bill for the inspection in the mail about a week later. I took it to their shop with three socks full of pennies. Some peoples kids, I tell ya!!!

Exactly! They have some stupid "E-check" in certain counties here in Ohio too...the biggest waste of time and money. It's just in place to keep a bunch of derelicts employed.

There should be no inspections...BUT...your car should be impounded or towed if it's unsafe and on the roads. If your fender is flappin' in the breeze, your you're draggin 1/2 your exhaust down the road, you get pulled over.

Re: what!!

NJ has a pretty stupid inspection. Here in NY it is all done through the OBDII port sans a quick visual inspection which includes: checking tires, lights, horn. Depending on who you go to some guys are more thorough then others. Last guy that did my inspection checked wipers too I think and asked me if i had a oil change recently LOL! like that would make me fail.

You got to realize state inspections are really there to give the shop business because they don't really make anything on an inspection but they will gladly do a brake job. Taken from someone who used to work at a shop its a way to get people to do repairs on their cars or you wont get passed. Then again you should be keeping up on your maintenance anyway.

I agree, the more cheese on a vehicle, the more attention/jelousy for inspectors who wish they had the money to mod to their own.

This is a nice street jeep if your into that but not for me. Not an offroader with those rims and too many sportcars would eat this up.
