What does Inferno Red really look like?

First off - Hello Jeep Garage! I'm new to the forum and maybe soon to Jeeps as I'm on the market for a WK.

I hadn't been looking at red very much until a few days ago when I saw this:

The ad lists the color as Inferno Red, which from the picture looks almost orange. I really dig the orange and hadn't seen it before so I went looking for more pics. Seems that there are two inferno reds, tinted and crystal. Searches on both return all kinds of slightly different hues. Is either one really orange or "orangish", or is this just a bad picture?

I know the easy answer is to just go look at it, but it's three hours away. There are a couple Inferno Red Crystal Pearlcoat and Red Rock Crystal Pearlcoat GCs around that I hope to check out "in the flesh" over the weekend. Speaking of the RRCP, that's another one that seems to run the gamut from bland burgundy to almost root beer candy in pictures. I feel like all of the other colors are pretty straight forward except for the reds.

Anyway, thanks in advance and hopefully I'll be able to start contributing soon!

Re: What does Inferno Red really look like?

it depends on the light bro. That is in the direct sunlight. Inferno red tinted was only early 05's. Check out my pics throughout the site for Inferno red crystal....

Re: What does Inferno Red really look like?

I should have mentioned that the picture is of an '05, so it could be either tinted or crystal.

Thanks for the response, Scott. I've seen a number of pictures of your Jeep and like what you've done with it.

Re: What does Inferno Red really look like?

Mine is an 05 and that pic must be an odd combo of direct sun and maybe reflection from something else because I haven't had any pics come out where my Jeep looked orange....

actually retracted. this is sort of redish orange compared to the other shot.....

So maybe it was a setting sun reflection

Re: What does Inferno Red really look like?

Same here, mine's red no matter how the sun hits it or anything, never a hint of orange. Best...color...EVER!

Re: What does Inferno Red really look like?

Si. Red and black is my favorite color combo.

Jeepnjeep, how do you like your grabbed at2s? I was contemplating those or nitto terra grapplers. I've still got some time before I need to replace my bfgs though.

I love the Grabbers. I'll never buy a different tire for my Jeep.

Re: What does Inferno Red really look like?

Thanks again everyone. Saw a 2011 Inferno Red Crystal Pearlcoat up close today. I agree that there's not much orange in it and also agree that it's a great looking color regardless. It really pops in the sun.

OBXJeep - How do you like your RR/Bilstein/BFG combo? Is your Jeep a daily driver and if so, how does it handle on the road? How about off-road?
