Wheel offset question

Looking to buy a set of rims that are 9.5 inches wide with a 15mm offset. I know that WK's offset range is 30+mm. If I use a 1" spacer, will that increase or decrease the offset?

Re: Wheel offset question

That's perfect!!! With a 1" spacer I'm looking at about a 40mm offset. Appreciate your help.

Re: Wheel offset question

The WK non SRT offset is 50.8 mm. Fitting the 15 mm offset wheel will push the wheel outwards an extra 35.8 mm. Adding a 1" spacer will move it outwards even more for a total of 61.2 mm!

Re: Wheel offset question

But, the stock wheel is 7.5" width as I recall, so he will need the extra 1" (25.4mm) to compensate for the added width. I agree though, the wheels may be too far out of the fender line.

Re: Wheel offset question

gojeep is correct......using a low offset wheel and adding a spacer will push it out even more

Re: Wheel offset question

Now it makes complete sense. I think I didn't ask my question correctly in the first place. Time to look at a different wheel

or a thinner spacer, spacers and adaptors are not recommended anyway

No, you are confusing backspacing with offset.
If you have the same offset, a wider wheel does not move the tyre further out or in as it just adds the extra wheel width equally to each side.

Here is a offset to backspacing conversion chart to help.

Exclamation Re: Wheel offset question

No, backspace is from the inside wheel lip to the mounting surface, and offset is from the centerline of the wheel to the mounting surface. I suggest that a wider wheel, even with the same offset, may rub on the rear shock if a spacer is not included in the fitment.

Re: Wheel offset question

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using a wheel spacer or adapter as long as you properly torque them and buy high quality hub centric wheel spacers. The only time there are issues with them is when they are poor quality and break or they are not torqued right and come loose. I had 1.5" spacers on my lifted XJ with 35" tires for 3 years and never once had an issue. I have a friend that had 2" spacers with 35s for over 5 years and no issues. I know dozens of other people that use them and have never had an issue. Its only the stupid people or the cheap people that have issues/make them dangerous.
