I like the invisicord but I want to add the concealed display in the future so I am just gonna use the existing wiring for my current detector.

Spent 20 minutes instead of $20 and made my own invisicord today using the original cigarette lighter wire. Its just a cheesy cobra radar detector but it worked great. Might add a 2amp fuse in the future. When I get a V 1 I will buy a real fused invisicord.

I did mine different from everyone. I didnt want to cut the cig adapters off of my gps or aftermarket satellite radio. So I tapped into the switched lighter outlet and ran a custom extra cig lighter under my dash, then added a fuse and put a two way splitter onto it so I can run my GPS and XM both switched, but can move them from car to car anytime I want. For the V1 I tapped into that wire and thats how it gets power :)

Thats a good idea too. I normally use the GPS on my phone before my garmin because i usually forget the garmin at home. The only other thing i plug in in my cell phone charger. I did this to my radar detector because i wanted it up and out of the way by the mirror and i was sick of the curly wire on my dash. the wire plugs in to the detector any way if i wanted to remove it.

I just cut the wire, stripped the pos and neg wires. Removed the clips on the pos and neg wires on the mirror plug and wrapped them with the wire from the radar detector. re inserted the clips in to the plug and plugged it back in. Mounted the radar detector mount where i want it and plugged the wire in to the radar detector and bam im done. no messy wires, nice clean look and clear wind shield. and now i have a plug for my garmin for the few times a year i actually use it.
