Re: Where to Start...

I did quite a bit of research before I purchased my 3.7, and I also do my own maintenance. So looking under each hood there's another reason I went with the six it is cheaper, easier to take care of in every way. Do your regular Preventative maintenance items, and change the fluids using synthetics. Also check out the link I left before those guys know how to squeeze the 3,7. Sorry about the 3.7-5.7 debate I brought mine for many reasons, and can't stand every time we're talking somebody jumps in telling me why I shoulda got a v-8. Good luck with her I love mine, and will probably eventually get a newer one with the v-6 LOL.

Re: Where to Start...

Amen to that, six spark plugs vs 16 plugs in mine. Less oil in tranny and engine. Almost all parts are cheaper for a v6 vs v8. Probably the 3.7 will last longer than a 5.7 with less power on the crank. The 3.7 is better for off road with less weight in the front, probably better balance.

Re: Where to Start...

Wow tons of info .. A lot of it I understand .. Some I don't .. Like "EGM and Mapping??" ...

Let me start by saying 1) I took the advice and ran just a simple bottle of Valvoline Fuel Injector Cleaner .. Something like 3.79 for it, dumped it in the tank.. Filled her up and by the time I had consumed that tank of gas this is what I'm getting 20.2mpg on extend freeway driving at 71mph cruise control lock through "hilly-minor mountainous (Appalachian/White Mtns)" .. 16.8mpg typical 50-55mph Maine Backroads and 13.7mpg City ... And right now the Average average is 15.5mpg...

It seems as though my issues have subsided with less than a $4 dollar investment !! and the surprise factor comes that it was the cheapest fuel injector/valve cleaner in my local NAPA AUTO.

SO I want to thank you ALL for all the help and knowledge so far .. Grant it I have only owned my WK for 18 days thus far .. Little by little I'm adjusting, learning, and starting to Love it !!

NOW I am going to go ahead and try and see if there are any maintenance records but regardless I believe I am going to replace the Spark Plugs for Shitz&Gigs and do as was recommended for the fuel injectors (see if they are Ok or in need of replacement ).. Once that is done then I can start pecking away at making mine UNIQUE and CUSTOM to Me, Myself, and I ...

And so after minor research .. I was looking.at Headers because when I replaced my Headers on my Esky I noticed markedly improved power, torque especially at 3000rpm ... So I was wanting to do the same ... JBA makes headers for the 3.7 but apparently where I looked .. Only for Dodge Trucks and the Jeep Liberty ... Why not the Grand Cherokee ??? Makes no sense to me,.can anyone recommend a set of headers or maybe even a place I can look to read up on my options?? Thanks

A $4.00 fix that's awesome as far as the headers I'm planning on doing them come spring time. There should've been some info on that within the link I gave you( I think ).

Still can't get a straight answer haha .. so ..Are the JBA Shorty Headers straight BOLT on ?? Or does there have to be a specific constructed Y-pipe or .. Anything else that I don't know of .. I'm hoping for an ACTUAL exhaust note that .. Well doesn't sound like "stock" so .. I know ... I know its a v-6 .. Not a deep throaty sound but just Something that isn't the putt putt of a stock system .. I'm the type who wants to start one end forward and continue rearward .. Ya know??

Re: Where to Start...

From what I've heard they will bolt to the stock Y-pipe However I've never owned a vehicle with headers, and a stock exhaust. It's good to know so I can drive it to the muffler shop with exhaust unlike I've done in the past LOL. Then have them install a complete custom system from front to back.
