Anyhow, my point wasn't so much for the WK, it was more for the WK2. I would have purchased the WK2 over the WK, but I didn't because of the steering wheel.

Say WHAT???!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Re: Why does everybody like 3-spoke steering wheels?

3 spoke "wheel lover" here.

My reason for liking it is pretty simple, and you should understand, and maybe even try it. But, unfortunately not ALL 3 spoke wheels have what I like about them.

It is an extra comfort bump that some manufacturers put in at the "10 & 2 position" what they consider/call the Sport steering wheel (ex:Audi, BMW)

I like the comfort of the extra grip provided by the "bumps", over a plain steering wheel.

Just for reference, here is a Momo steering wheel with the added "bumps" at the top:

Ya, I definitely like those bumps on the 3spokes. It's too bad they don't have 4spokers with them anymore

Now the WK2 has it and users on this forum are asking how they can add it to their WK's... what the heck is going on? Most of the people I ask about it in person have no preference until I bring it to their attention and after they give it some thought, they say they prefer to have a four-spoke wheel. Luxury vehicles, for the most part, still have four spoke wheels... Anybody on here who prefers a 3spoke over a 4spoke steering wheel, please explain your reasoning behind this because I'm curious to know what I'm not understanding about the trend. Thanks.
Wow, I wish I had have gotten to this thread sooner. I couldn't agree more, I agree that more and more manufacturers are putting 3 spoke wheels in vehicles (which is terrible) which means that SOMEONE has to have a huge hard-on for them (maybe the design guys were former 1995 civic owners) people are asking you to quote others talking about their desire for a 3 spoke wheeel, I ask why? the evidence is the fact that more and more vehicles now have them which is indisputable. It's a personal preference thing really and I clearly perfer a 4 spoke wheel.

Yes you would get a large amount of vote in favor of the 4 spoke, but based on the fact that this thread exsists, if you made a poll (say right now for example) there would be guys putting 3 spoke just to be ass-holes

As for the comment about not buying a WK2 based on the steering wheel, I can absolutly understand this. I got into my friends 2010 Ram 1500 and was extremely annoyed at the terrible 3 spoke wheel, I always put my hand on the bottom - long drives or short. People that don't understand that probably don't ever go on long drives or something.

When I buy a WK2 if there is a suitable alternative that works flawlessly and looks good (all stearing wheel controls, etc) I'd be willing to fork out up to $1000 to have it done.

Re: Why does everybody like 3-spoke steering wheels?

If someone had been kind enough to tell me in advance about the evil mad bunny on the WK2 steering wheel, I also would've bought the 2010 instead.

Re: Why does everybody like 3-spoke steering wheels?

meh, I still think its a nice steering wheel. I personally like both the 4 and 3 spoke. Steering wheel shouldnt make you switch buying a vehicle. Damn just swap a different steering wheel on.
