Why does everybody like 3-spoke steering wheels?

I hate 3spoke steering wheels and I'm curious why everybody seems to like them so much. They were originally introduced for racing, which is the one place I enjoy having one because the turning ratio is correctly adjusted on race cars. Then all of the ricers added them to their vehicles. Then it became an OEM feature on sporty vehicles that aren't race cars, such as the BMW 3-series. Now the WK2 has it and users on this forum are asking how they can add it to their WK's... what the heck is going on? Most of the people I ask about it in person have no preference until I bring it to their attention and after they give it some thought, they say they prefer to have a four-spoke wheel. Luxury vehicles, for the most part, still have four spoke wheels... Anybody on here who prefers a 3spoke over a 4spoke steering wheel, please explain your reasoning behind this because I'm curious to know what I'm not understanding about the trend. Thanks.

Re: Why does everybody like 3-spoke steering wheels?

Everybody likes them because it looks like this

I want to have that added to my Liberty and depending on price and if it can be done, I will have it added on.

SportRanger06 is just really nice
Re: Why does everybody like 3-spoke steering wheels?

I agree, I can't stand the 3-spoke wheel. My buddy has a civic hybrid (Not exactly a sporty vehicle) that has it, and he hates it too. He likes the 4-spoke because you can rest your hand at the bottom of the wheel while driving on long trips. That's why I love the wheel in my WK, I only wish it was leather wrapped.

where do you spot these elusive 3 spoke lovers?

i havent seen any around here lately.

actually i would suspect 99.9765% of everyone on this forum could care less. I have yet to see one WK with anything other than the steering wheel that Jeep made for the wk, now some have gone to wood, away from wood, BUT NOT ONE HAS GONE TO A DIFFERENT WHEEL.

so based on that I challenge you to SHOW US where these 3 spoke wheel prefering people ARE?

Steering wheels...interchangeable?

Factory SRT8 or Commander steering wheel interchangeable with the G/C?

I would like an all Black wheel instead of the two-tone.

Even more desirable (to me) would be the 3-spoke 2011 wheel.

Re: Why does everybody like 3-spoke steering wheels?

Some guys on here love the SRT 3 spoke wheel.

I like it, but not enough to spend actual money to swap to it! In fact, I wouldn't even spend 5 minutes to change it over if I was given one... so I guess, I'm happy with my 4 spoke wheel.

Is that how many it has is it??? lol, like, who cares!

If you want to bet on it, I'll gladly create a poll and take all of your money. I feel pretty confident that I can get more than 0.325% of the vote.

Anyhow, my point wasn't so much for the WK, it was more for the WK2. I would have purchased the WK2 over the WK, but I didn't because of the steering wheel.
