Wierd clicking noise coming from engine bay?

Recently my 2007 Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7 began making a clicking noise from around the front of the engine. I believe it is either the VANOS system of the MIVEC system. I can't tell which one though. Does anyone know which it would be? I'd like to order my Dr. VANOS kit soon (preferably tomorrow). Thanks in advance.

sounds like the exhaust manifolds to me. The bolts break and it makes the manifolds flop and click. the fix is to install new bolts. Its most common on the drivers side manifolds

No, it's coming front the engine. Hence why I think it's the VANOS system.

Re: Wierd clicking noise coming from engine bay?

sorry...I have never heard of vanos. I did a quick search and its some sort of variable valve timing fix on older BMW's.....???????

I don't think our 4.7L has this fancy technology you speak of...VANOS is a BMW thing...

Re: Wierd clicking noise coming from engine bay?

There was a partnership between BMW/Mitsubishi/Chrysler. I think the engines got VANOS in 2005. Works in tandem with MIVEC.

Re: Wierd clicking noise coming from engine bay?

Well I have the original 4.7L before the revision (2006) and there's nothing too special about a plain old chain driven overhead cam engine. Im willing to bet that the original powertech series has no variable valve timing or lift technology whatsoever. Heck it don't even have drive by wire until the revision.

VVT is only on the 5.7 hemi and 2.4l engines...not the 4.7

Re: Wierd clicking noise coming from engine bay?

VANOS was never used on a Jeep,,,,,, I think what you are expieriancing is broken exhaust manifold studs like Scott said.
