We just had our front windshield replaced and when we brought it home, it still had the tape on the top. We just removed it and I noticed that there is no seal or anything on the top of the windshield as there is on the left and right sides. Is this right? Should there be a seal there? Or a transition from the roof down to the glass?
I was looking for some photos, but i cant find any. Any help would be awesome, and especially before it rains!
If that's normal, then it's a Jeep thing. I've had windshields replaced on BMW's, Chevy's and Land Rover's and they've ALWAYS been sealed around the entire windshield. I'd call the windshield company that you had replace it and ask them for confirmation. If they claim that's normal, ask them to send you it in writing and see if their response changes.
EDIT: You can test it yourself with a little bit of water and see if it goes through.
Deleted starting with 2007 models built after November 7, 2006. The molding is designed to be installed underneath the top of the windshield when the windshield is new or is being replaced. Adding it without removing the windshield can be a little tricky, the back edge on the molding needs to be cut off in order for it to fit into the groove properly.
you are also supposed to leave that tape on there for a few days i think.
