Re: Wk Custom interior !

I like the black portion of it...not a huge fan of the red fabric....reminds me of fabric from a coffin.
Sorry.......I give the guy credit for the amount of detail and hard work that went into it though!!! NICELY DONE!!!

Another option would be to get a good vinyl on it and before you dismiss the idea up front, please try to get a first hand look, as in touching, the 3M DI-NOC architectural finishes (http://www.idsfinishes.com/gallery/). There stuff is amazing and they are printed in 3d so there is a texture to it. They even have suede, carbon fiber and several leathers. They were at SEMA this year as well. Problem with vinyl is that you will need a primer so it can bound to the dash and, once primed, there will be no going back.

A third option would by hydro-transfer. That will last for ever and have a perfect finish. If you do not know the process, take a look here http://www.waterprinting.com/ you'll see a dashboard. I know several SRT8 guys have used patterntek (http://www.patterntek.com/) for some carbon fiber printing and everybody seemed happy with results. Its unidementional and it will be challenging to find a place that will be able to do the entire dash. It will cost you too.

I read that carpets are easier changed but dying them seems a better way to go IMO. Pillars and headliner have been done before and is easy and "relatively" easy. What is the color of your visor, handles, center console light ... you might have to look into this too and those can be painted.

The seats are not leather, its simili, at least it is on my 06 Overland so you could always check http://katzkin.com/main.html for a paid of leather seats. Have never seen any first hand but read only good things about them.

"JUST DO IT" is the message to you from the guy who didn't

Herve
Hello Herve ! Thanks alot for your time and amazing info in this post ! i appreciate it, Lots to learn from this

Unfortunately, where i live, there is nothing like those stuff still! lol . so if i decide to tamper with my dash and interior, it would be painting.

i have painted many dash parts in various cars i owned, with excellent results, no chipping.. You should follow a certain procedure which is:

- soap the dash well with warm water, not once, but twice.
- rinse the dash well with pure water , then leave it to comletely dry under the sun.
- get a 2000 Grit paper , gently and slightly rub the dash so paint will attach.
-rinse again with pure water, and leave to dry,
- * Slightly spray Plastic adhere promoter on the parts you want to paint
- Paint the dash, using lights strokes at a time.

I use 5-6 coats, with 15 minutes nourishing time between them

An all-around great interior.. so much detail, but what's up with the Che accents? Looks like someone misses the motherland..

Re: Wk Custom interior !

Hamze, Happy independence day.

Check out what some guys have done

I am not sure how this was done and remember reading about a debate over this without the own clarifying. Anybody know this car ?

The carbon fiber impression was done by patterntek if memory serves me well.

Its the visible three conventionality of the surface that casts doubt on whether its painted or not.

Center parts painted ...and note the doors top which are wrapped with the nefty dry carbon fabric

Cannot remember who this is but its a fantastic job. Also with nefty

this guys install is very, very clean

This is mine, done with Di-Noc which is more matte that the nefty

Again in mine ... I know its dirty

Re: Wk Custom interior !

Damn that 3M carbon fiber stuff looks amazing. Just might have to get some and cover up the wood trim parts in my WK Limited. If it is as easy to work with as the videos on the web would suggest, I can think of all sorts of uses for the stuff on my WK and Mustang!

I am sure that the guys in the video have an extensive experience but I had never worked with vinyl before this and, after a couple times, got used to it. Did the install myself ... but it took me a couple failures and some getting used to. Dooable without a doubt.
