Re: WK Headlights - Rob's version

Beastly looking Rob! Great job!

I'm no fan of that vendor you talk about either......never replied any of my mails, no order confirmation......poor "plug and play" products. Everything has to be redone in order for the CCFL's to work good. But once you figure out how to set it up and get it all installed....it's quite breath taking. Not thanks to them nor their instructions obviously.

Anyway....keep it up man!

Re: WK Headlights - Rob's version

Rob, to take out the fogs you would need a t20 torx screwdriver. you can probably see the screw from the pic.

after that you just have to pop out 2 screws in the back, also w/ t20 and i dont know what you call that, labeled by green arrow, just push them out after. hope it helps!

Re: WK Headlights - Rob's version

There are a few grommets on the fire wall that are either high up behind the radio or almost right behind the dash if your looking from the floor up at the fire wall. If going from below the dash you will need to remove some of the sound deadening insulation in most places to get at the fire wall and make a hole or to find the grommets. when i ran my sub power wire i just found a safe spot under the dash and drilled a hole and sealed it with rtv.

Re: WK Headlights - Rob's version

I've Shaved the rear wiper off my jeep. So, i used the grommet just beside the brake pedal where the old washer fluid hose used to pass . took out the hose, and ran the switch wire in there.

You can also pass the wires beside the fluid hose if you want.

230 degree preheated oven. bake for 14 minutes, the best item i have found, i have opened up 3 sets to date, is very sharp wood chisels. they come small like 3/4 inch to 1.5. they go bigger but thats the biggest i have. anyway, using a wide tool that is sharp so it can break the seal makes it much easier and safer for the black part. you get so much more leverage with a wide chisel. dont go to wide or you want have enough strength to twist it.

i also use the heat gun if its really being stubborn. so oven, then pry, heat gu, pry heat gun, like that.

Re: WK Headlights - Rob's version

yeah I did all that. I've opened several different makes of lights for retrofits and never had so much trouble. This was my second set of HID WK lights. The first set was marginally easier--they were sealed with black silicone. This second set was much worse. They were sealed with some kind HARD plastic that was impervious to heat. Seriously. They were basically plastic-welded together
