I got one more day to glue them together. and a last day to wire up the Jeep.

Thats six days. plus all the supplies. the halos cost 160 alone.

Unhappy Re: WK Headlights - Rob's version

had a fawking hugh setback today while gluing the fawking lights together.

i been preaching about using this 3m window weld. have been told that is what the OEM uses. you dont want to use silicone bacause you cant get it apart again because haet doesnt loosen it like the oem glue.

anyway, i wait 2 weeks for this 1/4 ribbon of window weld. problem is it a tad too much to fit in the channel in the lights. so i go to napa and they have a tube of window weld for a caulk gun. i know this can be messy but i can deal with it. use lots of vinyl gloves.

so i get going on the first one. lay out a bead. i plug in the halos. i put the insert into the clear part and put it all together. its a tad messy but any glue on the clear will come off with mineral spirits. i have a strap clamp i put around it. a few spring clamps. its all looking good. i decide i need to test it. i get a 9 volt battery. i try first 2 wires and good to go, next set doesnt light up. WTF. mess with wires. no luck. must have f'ed up uinside the light. i get into panic mode as its all glued together. i yank it apart. i find a crimp connector failed. I reconnect. all this with the f ucking glue everywhere. I try to slam it all back together. i get balck glue everywhere. on the insert. the f ucking lens. oh fawk. im freaking out. yank it apart again. i run out of gloves and rags. glue is f ucking everywhere. oh what a mess. ruined a pair of jeans t-shirt. a bag of 24 cotton rags. 3 roles of paper towels. a box of exam gloves. a can of mineral spirits. acetone.

outocme: i got it all off the grey part. HOWEVER THERE ARE AZOUT 3 F UCKING SPOTS OF BLACK CEMENT INSIDE THE LIGHT lens. and stains from the mineral spirits. but i resealed them anyway.
good news is the other one came out perfect. well almost. a few glue spots on the outside lens only. they come off with the mineral spirits

I dont know if Ill ever get the glue off my hands. throw away the jeans and t-shirt. 4

so I just bought a pair of DEPO aftermarket ones. they SUPPOSED to open easy. I have another set of rings. these are white. so when the lights arrive, ill do another set......... meanwhile I am going to continue with ALL the wiring using these to get it all set up for the next set.

Re: WK Headlights - Rob's version

That fawing sucks Rob!! Sorry to hear that. I had a similiar incident happen to me when I was doing my lights. After I had closed them up and went to test them one side wasn't working (it ended up loose off of led) so I opened them back up resoldered it and closed them up. Patience is a must with these.
