WK seats - what do you think?

So looks like there are some mixed reviews on here about the seats on the WK JGC... i have the cloth Laredo seats but they stain real easy and i'm a big fan of leather, so im looking at buying the replacement leather seats. From what im reading looks like the leather seats might seem kind of cheap or uncomfortable, unless they are the S-Limited seats or SRT seats...

We can all agree that Jeep definitely downgraded their overall seat quality on the WK from previous models... but has anyone made the switch from cloth to leather on their WK and NOT been happy??

I would love to get the SRT seats but they are a little too much $$$$

Re: WK seats - what do you think?

Another option is to get the Katzkin leather seats. They replace the cloth covers on your current seats, and they also make a kit for the WKs. That is what I plan on doing, but I am waiting to get the heated seat pads at the same time. I believe that the Katzkin kit is about $700, unless you want to have it customized then it increases with the options you add.

Re: WK seats - what do you think?

From what I read on the katzkins you remove the cloth and put the leather in it's place like an oem installation. Im not going for a very customized look either, I just want black leather on the sides with a gray incert like the look of my current cloth. I'm also going to have the jeep logo on the back rest in black.

Re: WK seats - what do you think?

I heard kaztkin quality is great, but the laredo seats don't have much padding so when installing katzkin people have said it is a good idea to add more padding/cushion. I don't know personally. I have a set of 08 SRT seats coming to me right now too, so I will let you know in a few days when i get them in about how big of a difference in comfort they are compared to laredo seats.

iJeep is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: WK seats - what do you think?

If you have cloth seats with manual adjustment on the passenger side and would you like to replace them for a set of OEM leather. You're going to have to do more then just replace them. Since it was almost impossible to turn a manual seat in to a powered one. I had to reupholster the back of the passenger seat to accommodate the manual adjustment... I have a thread about this issue somewhere..

they are available every now and then on ebay or car-part for less than the cost of the katzkins. the srt seats are much more comfortable than laredo seats.

Re: WK seats - what do you think?

Yah i just looked online... Katzkins look great but they are right around $2k... not sure i want to drop that coin right about now.

iJeep - both of my front two cloth seats are powered electrically, i shouldnt have much problems with the swap, i think :-/

Re: WK seats - what do you think?

I am somewhat disappointed with the wk limited seats. On one hand they stay clean, but on the other hand they really lack bolster padding in the bottom and the top. Also, you can see in the pics that the "more durable vinyl" on the side looks like crap. I weigh 180 lbs and this started around 20,000 miles. My 2004 wj that had the cheapo leather "tan your hide package" held up better than this. I would like to get SRT8 seats, but my interior is khaki and greystone, so they wont match. I may just have an interiors guy my dealer uses for repairs make some new covers with better padding.

Daaaaaamn, no offense man but that looks horrible, sorry that just shouldnt happen on leather seats at all!! Jeep used to be known for having super comfy high quality seats... what happend?!?! have you tried fixing it with something like this as a temporary solution??
