WK Tcase swap?

Right now my 06 WK has the NV1240, with no low range. I'd like to look into the possibility of swapping the 1240 with a 245 (which the 1240 is based on) to get the low range option. Anyone here try/consider this?

I've done some research and I haven't had much joy in finding someone thats already done this.. A while back I found a thread on some other random Jeep forum about someone doing an axle swap on a WK, so who knows, I might get lucky.

I already know the WK isn't the easiest thing to work on for such things. In fact, it downright sucks. But I still love it.

Re: WK Tcase swap?

no one has tried it because it would be very difficult and expensive. the gains do not meet the cost.

buy what you NEED. Sell what isnt what you NEED.

Re: WK Tcase swap?

Just a throw a locker on the rear and should be good to go. Much cheaper than a t-case swap.

Re: WK Tcase swap?

Its not worth the work...
Its better to trade yours in and get the previous model year's WK with QD2.

If you really want something serious to wheel, with a great transfercase, sell your WK and buy an XJ, the money you have left over from the sale, you'll be able to build one nice rig!

I'm buying an XJ in the next few months and can't wait to build it!
