WK Transmission Cooler lines leak AGAIN!

I think the design is flawed... looking at the loop the line makes right underneath the oil filter channel, the oil on the fitting is likely to blame for the early fitting leak.

I had them replaced at ~45,000 miles. Now, I'm faced with replacing them again at ~70,000 miles.

My question is simple. Should I go with aftermarket lines? Clearly the Chrysler design is flawed. Oil from the engine that gets on that crimped end is causing it to wear prematurely. It's the only one that leaks that I've seen on my Jeep. I could survey the others.. but instead of having them replaced again with factory lines, I'm wondering if anyone has gone with aftermarket lines that might address this issue? Dorman makes some...

Re: WK Transmission Cooler lines leak AGAIN!

Quite a few folks have opted to cut the swaged hoses off and replace them with oil resistant hoses and hose clamps. I've not heard of anyone having a problem doing it this way. If you ever have a future leak, they'd be easy to redo without removing the lines. I pulled the lines myself, took them down to the local hydraulic shop and had them replaced for about $15. Putting them back in is a bigger PITA than removing them though.

Re: WK Transmission Cooler lines leak AGAIN!

The defect is the crimps to the hard lines. I thought that Chrysler had improved the lines after so many needed replaced, but they had a specific part#
