Even with a full cat-back there will be minimal to no performance gains from stock. If anything we might be talking 2-5 HP gains from a cat back, hardly worth justifying the price of a stainless steel set-up. With an after market muffler you will however change the exhaust tone significantly from stock. Read this link, I found it informative.

I dont think they make a 5x11x18? I just see 5x8x18 and a 5x11x22. Im tempted to go 5x8x18 but dont want to be too horribly loud all the time.

The muffler I have with the Magnaflow catback measures 6"x12"x22". Cruising on the highway it was hardly noticable, getting on the throttle it had a nice tone to it but not "loud" by any means. If I wanted to put this catback on it again I would def go with a 5"x8"x18". The Magnaflow catback was not "loud" enough for me IMO.

Re: Wrong Magnaflow

Thanks, I guess 5x8x18 it is. I could always go quieter if I needed too.

I think you will be very happy with that muffler. Plus you have the resinator on yours right? That does help somewhat, all I have is the stock srt dual pipes, resinators and tips with no mufflers and I luv how it sounds on my 3.7.

Re: Wrong Magnaflow

5x8x18 is what they originally put on mine and it was way too loud. the exhaust sound never died down at any speed. you would think when it would shift into the next gear it might die down but it never did. I have the 5.7L hemi though. I had them remove it and put the one i ordered (5x11x22) on and it's exactly what i wanted. low rumble at idle and cruising. deep throaty v8 when you get on it. the part # is 12589.

No resonator on mine, they dindt use them on the 4.7 in 05' If worse comes to worse I'll get one of those resonator tips. I dont mind sound too much, i'd rather be slightly louder then slightly quieter with the muffler I chose.

That's exactly what I have, too. IMO it's perfect for my day to day driving. Nice choice, glad it all worked out

Re: Wrong Magnaflow

i'll post a video once I get my 18in Magnaflow and K&N on the 4.7, i'll see how long it takes to annoy me, but i've always loved loud v8's so im sure I wont mind it too much. I'd love to get to the track before christmas a do a few runs before the mod's and after. I doubt it would make much difference in time but i'd be curious to see how much time if any a K&N intake, muffler, and superchip would knock off.

Re: Wrong Magnaflow

With a CAI and straight thru exhaust I wouldnt expect a difference, im not sure what adding a superchip would do but im guessing not much either. I think engine mods would be needed to see differences at the track, like cams, headers, heads, etc...
