Re: xoom mounted, idiot light on!

no kids! I set it up that way on purpose. If I get pulled over, I simply change the nav screen to radio and do not get a ticket for a movie/tv playing on the dash. The xoom completly controls the nav screen display. There is a quick release on the ram mount that lets me flip the xoom so that I or a passenger can control the xoom.

Re: xoom mounted, idiot light on!

There is a wire harness that runs on that side to a couple modules under he back seat. There is also another harness that crosses over the top of the trans tunnel, but that one is a bit further back. I'll see if I can find a good pic with that harness from when I had my interior out.

There are a couple pics in here where you can see the wire harnesses in question: (pics on the second page are better).

Thanks for the photos, I did infact drill right through some white plastic thing. Under the carpet just behind the center console on the passenger side.

I'll try to find it in one of your pix when I get to a pc. I really screwed the pooch by not looking before drilling

Re: xoom mounted, idiot light on!

You mean you drilled through with a metal screw of some sort? Anyway, when doing something like that, Id definitely check under carpet for wiring. That trans/DS tunnel is a popular place for body wiring to the back so wouldnt be surprised if theres something under there. Also when you add metal to metal on the chassis sometimes current can flow if near wires etc and freak the system out. I don't exactly how or why but you'd be surprised at the stuff that happens with cars now days with all the fancy electronics and gizmos and modules.

Shoot I simply added an amp to my audio system and my whole car freaked out and threw a bunch of codes until I finally cleared them. Morale is, any aftermarket mod and I mean almost any can have ill effects without you even realizing how or why. Sorry to hear man, hope it turns out to be just a bug that disappears!

Re: xoom mounted, idiot light on!

OK, stole a few of ekaz images and tried to show what I drilled through. I am hoping that when I sent the self drilling screw through this white plastic thing I just grounded out the abs and blew a fuse. The jeep seems to be running fine.

If anyone knows what I drilled through please tell me.

Here are some of my guesses of what I drilled through from ekaz pix:

I cut back some of the carpet and this is the best shot of my actual jeep, you can see the hole and knid of make out the white plastic thing

Yup, looks like thats exactly what you did, probably blew a fuse somewhere for sure. Unless you drilled through some of the harness, then your in for some fun Only issue is finding which one haha. Not sure which harness that is and for what but Im guessing if ABS light came on then its something with the rear ABS modules for the rear brakes. Check the manual, Id bet the ABS fuses are under the dash, the under-hood ones have the labels on the underside of the box lid so check that. If not there hopefully you can find and swap it so everything is back to normal. Think you'll be ok, electrical systems are semi fool proofed for these reasons, thank god for fuses

Re: xoom mounted, idiot light on!

well I thought I would update my f up. I went to the dealership and they told me that its a $2 fix that would cost me a grand in labor. So I decided to do it myself.

I pulled the seats and carpet"

while I was down there I cleaned some areas that don't get cleaned often. There was a harness that held about 18 wires and I drilled through 1, ha only 1. replaced the wire and I was good to go.
I also added leds to the front and back footwells, plus extended a lighter power source to the back of the center console for the xoom.

When I get my stuff back from paint I will be doing a complete build thread of all the stuff I have done since I bought it back in mid 08

Holy S%$@! How hard was it to pull the front passenger seat? I have to pull it because there is a broken spring and I can see that it wants to poke through the leather. Thanks
