Yaw / Dynamics sensor module

Last week I started getting a 'Service Elec Brake System' message along with the traction control dash light (same as ESP-disable light).

The DTC report didn't show any codes but the shop pulled a code (forgot to get it from them) that was related to a failure of the Dynamics Sensor module. I believe this module can also be referenced as Yaw sensor or STAB CNTL Module. Part # 56044148AA. This supposedly disables ABS and traction control while the module is not working.

My question - Has anyone ever had one of these fail and what does it take to replace it? The shop thought the part was connected under the front passenger seat so if that's the case it should be fairly easy to replace... but then will I have to have the vehicle re-flashed or that module programmed by the dealer? And if I am able to replace it myself at home, is it safe to drive to the dealer with the replacement module that hasn't been flashed/programmed yet?

Thanks for any input in advance.

Re: Yaw / Dynamics sensor module

Thanks TomK! Ended up pulling off that back cover to inspect the sensor, disconnected the battery, disconnected and re-connected the sensor... when I started it back up the EVIC message and dash light were gone to it must have just needed reset.

For future reference, this module would be easy to change if needed but it's not cheap!
