05 WK Front Doors

Frustrated....trying to find some replacement 6x9 speakers for my WK. I go to Crutchfield and there are two options, each over $200 a pair. Can someone tell me some other cheaper speakers that would fit? I have RF 6.5's in rear door, BA 3.5's in dash...looking for something with a lil bass...at least something to fill in with the highs

Re: 05 WK Front Doors

If you're using the stock BA amp, you won't get any highs from the front doors. They are used as a midbass with the highs going to the dash speakers.
If you're amplifying them, then find the closest set you want depth wise and do a little customizing. Add a spacer, trim the rain guard, and trim the door ring to make a deeper speaker fit.

Re: 05 WK Front Doors

What I mean was some bass to go with the highs in the 3.5" speakers. Anyone upgraded to any speakers they want to mention?

Re: 05 WK Front Doors

Check my install. I crammed JL Audio C2's in the doors.

Re: 05 WK Front Doors

The front doors are crossed over at 90Hz, for a low mid-bass threshold.

All your OEM speakers are 2 ohm, 75 watts.

Take a look at some 6x9 mid-bass speakers that fit these specs. These will be tuned to give you the frequency response you are looking for.

The biggest factor in upgrading the front door speakers is to ensure that they seat properly and seal.

I'm not one to suggest components (because audio is so subjective), but I can give you some pointers and data.

Hope this helps

Bob

Re: 05 WK Front Doors

Hey guys, not to thread jack, but I noted that the stock speakers in the BA system are 2ohm...I'm thinking of replacing with BA 65SE's and 35SE's (both of which are 4ohms). Will I have any issues? (I'll be using an adapter plate for the 6x9 to 6.5" conversion and the wonderful aforementioned adapters for ease of install).
