Well the time has come! I got my new speakers in today and my sound dampening material. You guys are going to have to bare with me on this install because as I am doing the Audio I am also having the front and rear bumpers replaced and the entire Jeep repainted
Here are some pics for you to start
BA 3.5s 6.5s $ 6x9s
This is some roofing material that i got from grainger. Pretty cheap for how big the roll is.
This is both materials I got to try. Both are rubber based, no tar smell and pretty thick(60ml) (one is 6'' and the other is 4" tall). I think this stuff will work really good in place of Dynamatt. It has a super sticky backing to it and very pliable. The black one is rubber on the face and the white is like a cloth material. I got both to see how they look and feel but I will prob use the black as the majority.
Well wish me luck and as i go i will post pics of everything. I also have a couple of surprises in store for everyone.....maybe some chasing LEDs
Here are the links to the Sound Dampening material I got. The black one is 65ml thick and the other is 30ml thick. I think for how much you get for the money its worth it. Let me know what everyone thinks...
Im calling it that because that is what i am going to use it for. I compaired it to Dynamatt and its almost the same. The white stuff has a cloth material on the outside that i am pretty sure will kill the vibraton. i am going to use the black stuff first then put the white over it. I guees i am testing it out for everyone else lol
i would not use that stuff in your vehicle......i was a roofer for 5 years and that stuff puts off hazardous vapors that arent good for ya, especially in a closed enviroment like a vehicle......just some useful info i thought you should know
it wont have a smell to it, trust me on this one..... ive read the msds sheets on alot of different peel and stick materials 99% of them are carcinogenic (cancer causing)
not trying to start anything but I have used peel and seal in a ton of installs ( mine and other peoples) and it works great. I have had people say that in the summer it will melt off, and stink up the car, well I live in southern Louisiana and in extreme heat filled summers I have never had one single problem with it after years of use. I speak from personal experience. most of the bad claims are from people who have never used it. and as for it being carcinogenic here is a quote directly out of the MSDS for Peel and Seal.

And Trigg here is two hints when putting in the sound deadening. DO not cover the door clip holes, and the door handle screw holes!!! I did on a few of the ones in my old liberty and that was a nightmare. Second is make sure that when you leave a slot for the door handle rod, make sure it cannot come in contact with any of the sticky backing. same thing in my liberty. it barely touched one little spot of the backing and it would hold the door handle and let it go slowly. that is the only problems I ever had. check out the pics where i cut around the clip holes and the slot for the handle rod. hope this helps

Thanks for the info! Yea I looked very closely at your install and remmy's install. Be flattered i took this idea from you guys LOL
I have the MSDS Sheet right in front of me actually and it doesnt state anywhere about being carcinogenic or have any potential. It says "Steps to be taken if released or spilled: SWEEP UP!" hahaha:lol:
So i guess it is safe to use
I live in S Fla and it gets hot hot hot here in the summer. I talked to a good friend of mine that has been a roofer for many years and i showed him this and he said it was fine. It doesnt melt away or stink during the summer hot months. When I looked at it closely it doesnt really have any tar in it. Its just a very sticky 60ml thick piece of pliable rubber.
Again guys thanks so much for the concern and input. Thats why i love this site! +1 for all of you
south florida? where at? im in key largo and i work in homestead.
oh never mind. LOL i just noticed your location was Fort Lauderdale
i might be goint to gulf stream this weekend. you bet the ponies?
Naw not really into the whole betting thing but drinking while I watch ppl bet on the ponies is fun. Yep I am in Ftl. Really like 5 mins from the Hardrock:headbang::chug:imp: lol
I would say come look at my Jeep but I am so ashamed of her right now. Front bumper is totally off dirty as hell but going in the shop monday for some lovin. New front bumper/rear bumper and a full paint job
Thats funny. i just bought mine at Hollywood jeep right by there. ill give you a shout if i go up that way this weekend. Its funny you didnt notice the sign in the background on my build thread.
You know i didnt even see this pic for some reason. I have a good friend that works there also I think in the parts department or something. Ill send you a PM with my # if you wanna meet up for a little and you can show me your system
YAY! My PAC C2A-CHY Audio adapter is here! Sunday I will be taking all the inside panels out and stripping everything off the outside of the Jeep as well. Cant wait finally time to start!
Nice Choice of Subs I just picked up a 12 myself. I'll be doing a FG/Carbon Fiber enclosure for mine. I'll post up when I start to show my progress soon.
This is a stock photo of my 9500 I'll post up some pics when it gets here too.
I got the carbon Dust cap and Carbon Cone Option and also added the supercharged to it LOL don't even know what it is something to do with coil travel and air. It was only another 70 bucks so I just told them to do it since I can't supercharge the truck at least I'll still have a supercharged something.
I have a JL 1000.1 but I'm dumping it for something better and more powerful like a DD M1B amp or may be a Zapco still unsure.
I'm also doing the head unit and all components.
On your sound deading material we have used that all the time in Florida and believe it or not it works great you can really tell the difference.
Here is a few pics of the fiberglass work I did in Florida. This car was covered in the roofing material. This car actually had a massive system before this build and did it vibrate. After the material and a much larger build out the difference was defiantly noticeable.
I havent started to put the sound dampening stuff on yet becuae i am also doing body work to the car and some pieces need to be put back before i can cover all interior panels with it.
Thats looking great so far. Running your system will be real easy with no interior to get in the way lol. when that thing is up and running i want a ride!!!! never rode in a srt8 before. im sure its about as fast as my V6 right?
If you have never rode in a SRT8 i will give you a ride one day. It HAULSSSSSSS ASSSSSSS!!!!!!
The grip is just amazing when taking off and the sweet sound of when you punch it getting onto the highway is pure music!!
I cant wait till she is done! I have alot of nice stuff being done to the body and paint. Plus the system is going to POUND!!
Sooo this leads me to my next question and i will probably do another thread because this really pisses me off about Jeep! When taking the weather stripping off the top of the door jams i noticed RUST!!!!! Not just a little bit but quite a lot and on both sides!!!
My jeep is only 4 yrs old and had no damage up there. The funny thing is that it was coming from behind a metal molding the holds the weather stripping. You can see in the pics that they didnt even paint behind the molding and just put them on with double sided 3M tape then screws. Any water that gets back to bare metal especially in S Fla will RUST! How can Jeep not paint the entire Jam and just install these moldings???? I am very upset with Jeep for this.....
I got a Soundstream 1500 Class D stable at 1 ohm for now. I know some people thing soundstream amps are crap but I have had diff luck with them. I thought I took a pic of it but I didnt. I will when I get home tonight and post it.
The most work is going to be my Fiberglass box I am making. I am doing a custom one to fit my subs and Jeep but also mounting the amp on top like its floating in the air.
I will take pics along the way. Going to start building the box tonight since my Jeep is in the hands of my body and paint guy now:jump:
