'14 Aftermarket Head Unit?

Looking to join the Jeep family but before I do I want to make sure I can upgrade the stock ra2 radio. The new electrical dash could cause some problems in my mind. Has anyone seen it done yet? What features would I most likely lose? Climate control or anything like that?

Greetings,

The rumor mills in car radio world after this year's CES show, is that they are working on it. Now that ADS has come out with the iDatalink for the UConnect interface as the harness, this should give the industry some push. Alpine is coming out with HU and bigger screens that will have iDatalink connection. Pioneer's NEX series has the connection, but limited connections into the JGC. Kenwood was the first to use the iDatalink in the Ford's.

iDatalink - Maestro - Home

They way the industry works, it might be a year or two to catch up.

When I brought by JGC back in 2011, I knew that the radio and the Alpine Factory system I would not like it all. I did not let the radio be a game stopper. After 3 years, I really love this Jeep and now I finally upgraded by radio.

Also, check out the main WK2 threads, lots of suggestions on the 2014's audio.

Best for now.

We are working on a solution for these vehicles. The substructure of the dash might prove to be a bit nasty for getting an aftermarket 2 DIN radio in, but we will have an application for Maestro RR that will retain UConnect and let you do climate on radio screen (Kenwood and Alpine compatible units).

This solution is still months away, but is a very active R&D project for us.

Cheers,

12V Guy
