16 Limited WK2 sub help

So first let me thank anyone for helping me with this. I have the 2016 non upgraded audio but I do have the big touch screen so just no rear sub stock. I want to put in the JL stealthbox and a 500/1 WD JL amp. Do I need the OEM converter or does the factory head have sub hook ups just without a sub. If no hook ups, what speakers should I hook into for signal? The front speakers hit pretty hard for OEM not sure about rear. But I've read they are crossed so I won't get the low range I want. If it does have hook ups where might they be? Thanks again. I'm not the smartest guy when it comes to this so I am asking for yalls expert help.

Re: 16 Limited WK2 sub help

That will be a good combo. Looks like that JL amp accepts up to 8v input, which should be high enough to accept wiring the sub output into RCAs and not using a LOC to knock the signal down. Also it looks like you dont need to hunt for a switched wire and it turns on when it senses signal on the input. That will save you time. If you are like I am, you just want to add a little heft to the factory stereo and are not looking to have the absolute best signal purity/sound quality possible. I have the JL stealthbox powered by a Rockford Punch 400x1. It makes about the same power and has similar features to that JL amp. I can say that the JL10W3 sub is slightly overpowered by this amp.(birth sheet said 573 watts into 2ohms). I dont crank it often but when I was testing its limits I smelled voice coil adhesive, which means I was hitting the thermal limits. It does, however, sound very tight and clean with the ability to boom should you choose to do so. Look to get good extension to 25hz or so and about 125-130db at full tilt.

One other thing to note!! I have a 2015 WK2 SRT which was the first year for the active sound cancellation(I believe anyway). Upgrading the sub makes this VERY ANNOYING! Im looking for a permanent solution to disable this, but putting the tranny in sport mode seems to turn it off.(most of the time anyway, some times it does not...) If anyone here knows what fuse to pull please share. Also, what I think is the Active Sound Cancellation module interferes with mounting the stealthbox ever so slightly( I was unable to get the bottom brace to mount, and it slightly cocks the whole box forward so there is the slightest panel gap. Kind of annoying but you have to be looking for it to notice.
