2007 WK Boston Acoustics Premium Sound - want to add powered subwoofer
2007 Grand Cherokee, purchased new with the BA premium sound system. 6 speakers and amp in the rear driver side behind the panel. Factory stereo works fine. I want to add some bass and am trying to install a Rockford Fosgate P300-10 powered subwoofer.
The P300-10 accepts either speaker hi inputs or RCA lo inputs.
I tried first with speaker hi inputs. Trying to figure out where in the lengthy speaker wire harnesses to tap - which speaker lines. I have tried two different ways - neither gives any sound out of the P300-10 (stereo otherwise works as normal).
1) back by the amp, I looked up the wire color codes on wkjeeps.com and tapped into the amplified outputs from the BA amp to the front door speakers. Powered the P300, good ground, set to hi input. No sound out of the P300 only it's red protection mode light on.
2) again back by the amp, I tried tapping into the rear speaker input to the BA amp coming from the factory H/U. The factory H/U only has rear speaker lines going to the BA amp. I guess the BA amp does all the splitting, crossing, hi-passing to give amplified signals out to the 6 speakers. Anyway, I tapped these rear speaker inputs (unamplified) and fed to P300. Again, no sound out of P300 just it's red protection mode light on. Stereo otherwise works normally.
any experience with this particular sub, the P300-10? or suggestions based on wiring other brand powered subwoofers into a BA premium system ?
