After being pretty disgusted with the factory Alpine sound and rear quarter rattle I decided to do something about in the first week I bought the Jeep. Unfortunately basically no bass is sent to anything except the sub. The system completely lacks mid range. A good rap of a snare drum should delight the ears.

I'll give a good piece of advice to anyone looking to do anything without a new sound processor or a cleansweep to amps setup. Stay away from metal tweeters and stick with silk such as a full CDT setup. The Polk aluminums do NOT match up to the Focal aluminums at all. I have it sounding way better than stock but it's far from what I was hoping for. I bought the Focal 6x9 components new for $150 which is the only reason I bought them. Polk DB 351 center, Polk DXi rear doors and CDT 8" HD sub.

Here are the focals finished

Here's the rear quarter. What you see on the outside is one layer. On the inside I did 3 layers to every spot I could reach without covering any factory clip

Factory sub out. The box will be sanded with 80 grit and fiberglassed over.

Here is the rear door. The brackets had to be trimmed then form a gasket used to seal the bracket to the door. Also have to add more screws so it does not flex.

Okay so the factory sub is not exactly 8 inches nor is the cutout in the factory box. It's more like 8.25". I wish the people that have swapped in other subs would have said something because it can't be done right without filling in the old holes, grinding off the overflow(or waiting until it's almost set and using a razor to scrape off the excess. I prefer and did this method) and grinding off the OEM plastic that sticks up around the oem screw holes.

Also the OEM screws for the sub cannot be reused since most Sub baskets have a lip.

The CDT even with the rubber removed needs to be spaced about 1/8th or it will hit the back of the box under heavy bass. Any aftermarket sub MUST be spaced. I used automotive EPDM rubber to seal it against the box and space it. No more touchy touchy.

Thank you. The sub sounds amazingly clean. It hits every single note even with jazz. it's not as loud as I want so I bought the stealthbox last night. I was going to go custom and make a full on fiberglass box with a 10 and modify the quarter panel but decided I don't want to get into it with this vehicle.

Sub in the Jeep.

Amp in very clean install (except the remote wire which I'll take care of later

Hidden when the seat is back

The remote knob just visible
