2015 Summit Valentine 1/SAVVY Wiring

Didn't see this subject in following detail here, so this is what I did!

Recently updated very old (~16+ years?) V1 to new one with SAVVY add-on.

Installation time 5-10 minutes.

I have always mounted with suction cups and never had a problem. The old V1 was last used with mirror power on 2013 Avalanche. I didn't want to deal with the mirror on this vehicle.

I mounted V1 to driver's side of mirror with suction cup holder. I routed 8' straight V1 cord into trim at top of windshield to left pillar post. The cord fits in that wide slot very easily.

The left pillar trim overlaps the headliner. The cord can be pushed down into the pillar trim easily from the top corner at the windshield around to the door weatherstripping.

Pull the inside bodyside door weatherstripping (not glued) back from the top of the post trim to the bottom of the dash. Insert the cable to the inside of the body frame and under the dash. Push the weatherstripping back on the body.

Plug the SAVVY into the OBD connector. Minimal pressure required, may feel like it's not in far enough but it is. Plug the cord into the main port of the SAVVY. About 6-8" of cord excess when run as described.

Test operation.

Ran thru car wash. No leak issues with weatherstripping.

Re: 2015 Summit Valentine 1/SAVVY Wiring

Yes, note title. SAVVY drained battery-removed and returned to Valentine 1!

Installed SAVVY (added component for Valentine 1 radar detector) connected to OBD connector. Worked great for 2 weeks. Talked with Valentine and they have seen some problem with Dodges. SAVVY is suppose to go to low current drain after engine shuts off. Due to delays in later shut down in some of these vehicles, possible reactivation of signals to the OBD or ??, SAVVY continues to draw higher (normal driving) current when it should have switched to lower (off) level. Returned my SAVVY for credit. Valentine is pursuing a fix for this problem and suggested I call back monthly. I will do so and update if it is corrected.

Current status from V1 website:

CARS WITH SAVVY COMPATIBILITY ISSUES

  • Chrysler with keyless entry
  • Dodge with keyless entry
  • Jeep with keyless entry
  • Mercedes
  • Jaguar
  • Hybrid vehicles
  • Electric vehicles

I disable X and K band in SoCal. CHP only uses KA and Laser sometimes. Still, it would be nice is Valentine fixes SAAVY for FCA vehicles.
