After market stereo

So I put a after market stereo in and I had bought the harnest for the new stereo. When I hooked all the wires up there was no sound and I noticed that there were no wires going to some of the prongs? The next thing I did was go to the back and cut the door speaker wires then spliced new wires and ran them to the front in order to not have to run wires to each door and then there was sound.
My question is has anyone else had this problem or is the standerd way of having to do this and completley bypass the factory amp or is there a better way?

Re: After market stereo

PAC Audio sells that.

I THINK he is trying to tell you that you MAY have the incorrect interface. they sell 2, one for the jeep with factory amp and speakers and one without factory amp.......

do you have the correct one???

Re: After market stereo

The amp harness plugs into your amp and runs back up to the head unit, ties into the speakers and your good to go, i have a local guy that does it all for me. you can get passed it all by hardwiring every speaker back to the head unit, but its a 40$ harness. Well worth the money than all the time and aggravation

Re: After market stereo

I did'nt know there were two different ones? The one I have must be the wrong one being that I had to hard wire all of the speaker to the head unit. So if I get the other one are you saying the factory amp will still run all of the factory speakers and then I can run everything for my amp and subs?

Re: After market stereo

Yes the harness should turn on your factory amp which controls the speakers.
