I currently dont have an alarm in my 05 WK. I was going to go with the mopar factory alarm but they are discontinued and I cant find one left over anywhere. What is a good, basic alarm to install? I dont need anything fancy like the remotes that tell me my alarms going off, I was actually hopeing to not have to carry around another remote. Are there any alarms that can run off my key fob i have now? I just want something that goes off if the hood is opened, doors opened, glass breaks, tilt sensors, and something that is tamper proof as in goes off if the wires to the battery are cut if it exists. Is it true that theres a way to get the specific transmitter signal so thieves can turn the alarm off?

any alarm made by DEI is good......I highly doubt you will find any alarm that will run off your factory remote. All of them have sensors for what you are asking for.....but your gonna have to put up with another remote

eh, your forgiven since im picking ur brain on stereo help at the moment anyways. Lol. And im selling that rock key cuz they shipped me the wrong one, its for an 04 and earlier. Im just lazy and never shipped it back so im stuck with it now after 6 months. Plus before I bought it I specifically asked them if it had the buttons for the lock/unlock and they said yes but the dam thing doesnt. Why would I want just a key with no buttons??? ha.

I'm 100% sure there's SOME alarm that works (is armed and disarmed) with the factory keyfob. Remote start too, if you hit the lock button twice.

I see it at work all the time. I haven't been able to find out WHAT alarm can be programmed that way though!

I would def rather get an alarm with that feature. Maybe i'll take a ride to the car audio store near me and act like im going to buy an alarm off them if he can tell me which ones have that capability. Thats the one reason I was trying to track down the mopar factory alarm, which is no longer available. I must of ordered it from 5 diff places online only to get told they didnt actually have them anymore and my money refunded.

My sisters town & country has an alarm that works of the OEM RKE (Remote Key Entry) but it was installed by the dealer. We have the same looking key RKE and with the remote start that works off my RKE I'm sure there's already something pre installed.

With the Mopar alarm kit it just has one module, says to unclip the wire harness at the ignition and plug the module into the ignition then the harness into the module so its basically in line, then splice into the interior lights for the open door feature. So I dont think there is anything already installed in mine for an alarm. I did find this 4"x4"x1" black plastic box that says Siemens tucked away under the dash above the sterring column. The sound proofing mat appears to have been cut and the box is just wedged up in there. There's two harnesses coming off of it. It def looks out of place, like it was installed after. I'll snap a pic, to see if anyone else has this in theres.

I like doing everything myself, and im cheap so I hope to buy a new alarm off ebay and install it myself. Im doing research now to see if I can find a viper or similar alarm that I can run off my key fob.

All the vipers I have seen have the extra pager remote that tells you whats going on with the alarm. The one I have on my Mazda has the pager, remote start, all that jazz. You can also add tons of upgrades to the alarm system itself. Things like tilt sensors, glass breakage sensors, a backup battery just in case the do manage to cut your battery wire, the alarm would still have power and keep going off. Starter kill also.. Viper is just one bad ass alarm :)

yea, see i wanted to keep it simple. Have it run off my key fob, have the glass breakage, tilt sensor, hood sensor, and battery back-up. On ebay I have seen add ons for cheap, like the battery back-up. I just want something that will go off if someone attempts to break it.

Dang Dang Dang!!!!!! I had an '09 Commander at work today! Aftermarket alarm which was activated and deactivated by the factory keyfob!! And guess what? If you hit the lock button 3 times, the remote start activated!

I asked the woman what kind of alarm she had....

And was extremely disappointed when she said

"Oh, you know I don't know. It's something my husband hooked up. I don't have a clue what it is."

DAMN!

I was on the Viper web site. They have an alarm called CAN-BUS OEM system upgrade. But it seems to only have a shock sensor but it works with the factory key fob. It says it has one slot for an additional add on feature. I would like the battery back-up feature and for it to be wired into the interior lights for it to go off if a door was opened. But there's a 3902V and a 3903V, so not sure which one would work. More research needed.
