Re: Audio help

Can go to Homedepot and buy a couple cans of expandable spray foam and fill in all the quarter panels which will help out alot. I even noticed when installing my ground effects it looks like there is spray foam in the body of the car already.

IMO anyone that upgrades the stereo should def invest in some type of sound deadener. Less road noise inside the vehicle= less power needed to hear the stereo at the same volume at the ears, and the louder and clearer the stereo will sound. (blanket statement) lol

You're spot on with that!!!

Go over to DIYMA and you'll see guys that outfit their entire car (TWICE!) with liquid, then mat sound deadner. Of course these are people who are probably competing, but either way, it makes a HUGE difference.

Re: Audio help

matt, sorry but i havent looked at you stereo log in depth. What have you done for sound proofing if anything? Right now in the cargo area I have one layer of 40 mil butyl membrane and the stock sound fiber mat over it. I cut the stock mat out where the amps sit and applied a layer of 60 mil epdm membrane on top of the 40 mil butyl. I have alot of membrane still, prob to do another 10 layers. Should I just keep layering it on? And the plastic on the side above the wheel wells seems a pain to remove, but do you think its worth doing a few layers there as well?

Not much.... the front doors were heavily treated. Layers on both the inner and outer skins (wish I had done the door card ). Besides that nothing is done. I have some mat sitting in the garage, but was just to lazy to finish it up, lol. Ideally, I'd like to have the entire car (minus the roof) with at least one layer of sound deadner on it and then any panels that seem to be vibrating treated. I'm starting to get the itch to build another active stereo, if I decide to, then I will for sure bullet proof that thing with sound deadner.

I won a pack of Second Skin Damplifier Pro, so that's what I used. That shit is expensive though, I would have never paid that kind of money for it, lol.

Re: Audio help

I got all my materials free also, off job sites. Lol. I basically walk around construction sites all day so im always picking crap up, at least i'll never need to buy any screws, nuts, and bolts for the rest of my life. I've gotten some really good things, but shouldnt say it out loud...
