Re: Best radar??

I've read in another thread that the V1 is picking up the Blind Spot Monitoring system (false alarms). Any issue with the Escort 8500 or 9500 and BSM?

Re: Best radar??

I do not have any problems with my Escort 9500ix. However, there is something in the newer Dodge Caravans that set it off when I get close to their back ends.

Re: Best radar??

dude ive used a basic cobra since 2000. ive had 4 speeding tickets and 4 warnings since then. i knew in advance EVERY time that i got a ticket. its not the newest and its not the most high tech but it gives me 360 degrees of warning and i do not drive without having it. you can go buy a $300 radar or a $100 radar. its really what ever you want it to do for you. i would buy another today id mine stoped working.
IMO most radar detectors are over priced. they all do the same things for the most part.

V1. You get what you pay for with detectors.

Re: Best radar??

It's easy! Do what I did! I picked-up an used Escort SOLO2 on e-bay and can't be more than happy. Wireless benefit pays a lot! Just use a schticky pad on the center of the dash and there you go. No cables, no-hassles. Works great and have save me from a couple ones!

A better radar detector like a Valentine One, Escort 8500x50 black, Escort Redline, Beltronics Pro 300, Beltornics STi Magnum, Escort 9500CI, or Beltronics STiR+ would have warned you much earlier than your Cobra and given you enough time to determine that the alert was a true threat and slow down to avoid those 4 tickets and 4 warnings. How much did those tickets cost you, and how much more did you spend on insurance premiums? Most insurance companies charge at least a $500 surcharge for each speeding ticket for a minimum of 3 years.

In almost all of the vehicles I own currently, I have a built in system. Either the K40 Calibre or the Escort SRX but in the cars that don't have it built in or when I rent/borrow a vehicle I use my 8500 X50 which is an incredible device for the money IMO.

Re: Best radar??

Everyone in my family has a V1. Ive had mine for 15+ years. It still works flawlessly. Cant go wrong with either V1 or Passport though.

Re: Best radar??

Are there specific features one should look for when shopping for radar detectors?

Another for the 9500xi. Got mine for $300, Amazon had a price mix up.
