8500 X50 is probably the best detector on the market. The 9500IX is basically the same unit with GPS added (and can do home updates). Get the 8500 X50 and you won't regret it. Mine saves me huge amounts of cash before it got stolen ;(

Yup. I'm too cheap to buy the discreet mounts so my 9500ix is in the middle of the windshield. No reason for me to hide it where I travel in MO/AR (it's perfectly legal in both states). Btw, 9500ix is by far the best detector out there. I travel in a separate vehicle than my sister (who has a Valentine) down to AR all the time, and guess who has 3 less tickets in the past year ;) . For reference, we usually travel about 15-20 over the limit. She's been slammed by Ka twice and LASER once. Note there's nothing you can do about LASER (unless you have a shifter/jammer) but that's still 2 more than me!

dude ive used a basic cobra since 2000. ive had 4 speeding tickets and 4 warnings since then. i knew in advance EVERY time that i got a ticket. its not the newest and its not the most high tech but it gives me 360 degrees of warning and i do not drive without having it. you can go buy a $300 radar or a $100 radar. its really what ever you want it to do for you. i would buy another today id mine stoped working.
IMO most radar detectors are over priced. they all do the same things for the most part.

A better radar detector like a Valentine One, Escort 8500x50 black, Escort Redline, Beltronics Pro 300, Beltornics STi Magnum, Escort 9500CI, or Beltronics STiR+ would have warned you much earlier than your Cobra and given you enough time to determine that the alert was a true threat and slow down to avoid those 4 tickets and 4 warnings. How much did those tickets cost you, and how much more did you spend on insurance premiums? Most insurance companies charge at least a $500 surcharge for each speeding ticket for a minimum of 3 years.

It's easy! Do what I did! I picked-up an used Escort SOLO2 on e-bay and can't be more than happy. Wireless benefit pays a lot! Just use a schticky pad on the center of the dash and there you go. No cables, no-hassles. Works great and have save me from a couple ones!
