Re: Building my system

So by getting a 15" sub with that amount of power/handling capabilities, do you pretty much need to get the optimal 4.0 cu ft ported? With a 2.0 cu ft sealed are you kinda wasting the sub/amp combo you bought? Just talking out loud...mainly b/c I have a 15" sub I am thinking about building/getting a box for and be able to just switch it in and out for $hits and giggles.

Well, it really depends on what you're looking to get out of the sub woofer system. You could build a "fart" box that basically has a very high peak at a specific frequency - this is what those who compete in SPL competitions use (burping). They sound like absolute shit on music.

But I'm willing to bet that the larger (and low-tuned) the enclosure the flatter the response, which = the better it will sound.

If you want to build an enclosure for that 15" that will get loud as hell on one note, then shoot me the t/s parameters and I'll model it up and tell you what to build.
