Climate Control Panel

First new thread, be gentle...

After reading TimmyB's great led guide, I noticed I had some lights out on the blower control. I'm not quite as brave as you guys so...

I found this on eBay for $40
HVAC-compressed.jpg

Before I start mixing components, does anyone know if there is any uniqueness on the silicon level? The eBay one came from an 07 and I have an 05.

I plan on doing something with the lights and hopefully adding a concealed display for my V1.

Something like this yet flush

Re: Climate Control Panel

Well do you have all the options from the one you are showing us? If so go for it and try to modify your Radar Detector to be built into it.

Re: Climate Control Panel

you may find a spot for the vi in that cubby hole, most of the other space is kind of small.

we'll be waiting for pictures.

Re: Climate Control Panel

Thanks for the quick replies guys,

Chaoul1 - I have all the same options, I was worried CAN-B stuff(ecu, bcm, ?) might notice.

Scottina06 - Thanks

robpp - Yes some more poorly sized pictures I'm sure. I was hoping to add the display to this area

HVAC-Compressed-TopRight.jpg

but it does seem very tight. Maybe I'll melt some plastic...

I also need to hide my hot glue gun before I start this and learn how to use the quote feature.

Re: Climate Control Panel

You have dual-zone climate control currently? Then you'll be fine. You may have some trouble cutting out that section in the upper info center, there's a circuit board that runs through the entire piece and if you cut it,you'll probably lose all the functionality of the buttons on the left side.

Re: Climate Control Panel

Im pretty sure you wont be able to put the radar detector display up there along the "information center" as there is a whole unit that goes behind it. What are the dimensions of the display unit you want to install? Im sure there will be a spot to install it. Try looking up under the dash below your steering wheel on both sides, I think there is empty space there for a display to be installed.

Re: Climate Control Panel

The display is 2.5"x1.125"x1" intact
v1-cd-comp.jpg

the part i really need is 2.5x.25x1 except for the rj14(phone) jack. It would be easy to remove the jack and solder the phone cord to the board. Hopefully it'll fit without too much hassle.
v1-cd-dis2-compy.jpg v1-cd-dis-comp.jpg

I also found it has to go in the blank that says "information center" because I have an airbag light in the rightmost slot. What do u guys think?

Re: Climate Control Panel

Me, I wouldnt hack apart my climate control unit. I would make a cool little housing for that display and just velcro it on top of my dash.
