Both are very good companies, awesome products. Never owned a set of either but heard a few different setups of both.

Im trying to remember exactly what I liked/disliked about both but I dont recall any real negatives to both. The two as well as rest of brands cover all frequencies very well, they dont lack lows/mid/highs and everything in between. The sensitivity is amazing on them all and the detail is great, you can hear all little instruments and different soudns you never would with cheaper set.

I recall the CDT hit pretty hard, it was a rare 6x9 compo set I heard and they hit like a nice 10" sub would. The bass output was spectacular, not sure how much power they were getting as it was shop but id venture to guess 150watts+ per speker. Not positive of model either, CDT6.9 something haha but you could prob search them. Def a $400+ speaker and the quality was there to match.

Ive just always been a Hertz/Focal fan for the value and quality points. They can be had for less than $1000 for a set for doors and the quality youll get if installed properly is unmatched in my book.

Best bet is def hit some shops in your area or go on sound forums and literally look for local people who may meet up to run you through their system. Its a big investment so Id go that far but thats just me haha

Holy crap, they better jump out of the doors and massage your ears for that price! Look, simple fact is, you ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO APPRECIATE $1000 speakers in your Jeep! These things are for audiophile weenies who like to brag about how much dough they dropped. Not to mention you'll spend a boatload more on install, sound deadening, wires, and the uber-amp you'll need to run them. My local audio guy runs two sets of Mille's, each getting 250w rms/ch, and yeah its ridiculously loud and clear, but he's got well over $3500 in that setup. Thats before you even get to the subs... To me, that is crossing the line of sanity.

If you like seeing positive figures in your bank account and plan to hold onto your eardrums for a few years, I suggest a set of HSK Hertz or even a set of DSK Hertz to run off your 75w/ch JL amp. Still tonally excellent speakers that get plenty loud. The DSK's run $150, HSK's about $300. I have owned both of these speakers and have been very happy. I actually downgraded to the DSK from the HSK so I could pull the 2nd amp out of that car and use it in my other car. Running the DSK's off a Kenwood kdc-x595, with the high pass set at 100hz, i have no complaints. You will notice on such efficient speakers, that source quality is paramount. You will probably stop listening to the radio altogether and skip over a few of your 128kbps recordings in favor of better material..

I also second the Image Dynamics recommendation. A few years ago I decided to run a set of Chameleon's and loved loved loved them. In fact, when it was time for a change, I just kept the mids and used some CDT ES-01 tweeters for better dispersion.

If you have not made your decision yet, I may suggest that you find a dealer that carries Morel Hifi car speakers ( www.morelhifi.com ). I had the chance to hear the Elate plus the Maximo series and they are impressive. They have several different lines from affordable to expensive. Morel also makes speaker components for the home and they are excellent.

Best for now.

Re: Component speakers?

I just added Infinity Reference 3.5" up front and a pair of JK tweeters to my back doors for a component setup on the rear doors... sounds alot cleaner and more crisp than the stock BA system but not louder. To get it louder i plan on buying the Mopar Kicker Amp to replace the stock BA amp.

In the back i have a JL Stealthbox and 250/1 for some bump.

Haha no no, I def agree with you and the $ thing. I was just saying IF you wanted to go BIG and had the $$$ to dispose of for the build, then those are a good way to go. Its one thing to say they are not worth the $ pending your situation, its another to say they are not better than the cheaper speakers. Worth $1000 for the front sage, not in my mind, but superior sound to some mid line Hertz/JL certainly, they are a much better speaker
