Fail, I don't think so smart guys. He said he wanted something with a SMALL foot print. I found my dual 10” enclosure and installed it myself for all of $350, a dual 10" just sold in our CL for just over $400. I also went this rout for the small foot print and I can still use the utility tray that's in the back of the GC. It was just way to easy given I already have an REC head unit and the BA speakers.

Even if you built your own small setup, it would still be wayyyy under $500. Just sayin...Heck, I could buy a setup already built for less than 500.

Nobody said what size box he had to build. We're just saying that you can build your own system for way cheaper than what you can buy a ready made setup like that for and have a way better sounding system for way less. I personally will never even buy off the shelf stuff because you're paying for a name. I'd rather buy some true competition or custom stuff that will blow the other stuff out of the water and usually cost the same or less because it doesn't say "JL" etc. on the box. That mentality is what keeps "custom" shops in business and what makes companies like Kicker able to sell sub-par products and have people think they are bad ass because of marketing.

My box is huge for a 10" because of the amount of air that specific sub uses and the massive port we used to tune it to the peak frequency for that specific application. There are plenty of great subs out there that work great in small enclosures, etc. if you have someone who knows what they are doing and can design an enclosure around your vehicle and sub's spec's. (not the ones on the box, either)

Yep. I was trying to be nice earlier, but that Kicker box is pure junk. I've heard one, and it's a joke. Just like most of the plug and play junk that is sold like that to entice someone into a one stop shop, buy, plug and play "We already designed this for YOUR vehicle" bullshit.

And, ALombardi, That's a beautiful setup. Good Job, bro!!! Is the box tuned for the subs or is it a pre-fab? Just curious, looks like you don't have much airspace for those puppies, lol

Edit: Just realized, go read the reviews on that Kicker link, lol

I agree "to each their own" but that kicker sub enclosure is absolute junk, garbage, crap, shit, whatever you want to call it. The fact that they have the balls to charge $500 for it is insane. There are alot other subwoofers out there in the under $200 area that will laugh at that setup all day and twice on Sundays.

+1K Hell, a good Bazooka tube is better, louder, more efficient, and costs half that if you want a pre-fab box/amp/sub combo.

Re: Custom rear sub enclosure for WK? 10-12" preferably

if you dont mind removing your factory floor. i built the box for around $50. all the amps fit under it and this thing jams without loosing any of your cargo area. the whole build is here Butch's 2010 install if you want to check it out.
