Arrow Does the WK use a flasher relay?

Or is the flasher circuitry integrated into something un-moddable? I haven't looked into it yet but maybe some of you have. I have LEDs I want to retrofit into my front turn signals and I'd rather not use load resistors. If it's a simple flasher relay, there may be an electronic replacement, or a way to modify it easily so that it doesn't "hyper blink" with LEDs.

Re: Does the WK use a flasher relay?

its in the fcm front control module handles the flashing.

i HEARD there is a vendor or 2 at sema SAYING their bulb doesnt need resistors.

I might wait a week and ask xenondepot if they saw/heard anything

Re: Does the WK use a flasher relay?

I just found my Tech Authority disc and located the "park lamp relay," which I assume is the one i'm referring to. It looks pretty standard so hopefully there's a replacement, or it can be modified.

I'm not using bulbs, I made my own arrays that will fill the turn signal reflector.

Re: Does the WK use a flasher relay?

nice jDub.

im confused though.

the park turn are 2 seperate wires or circuits; the minor (park lamp) and Major (Blink) in front or blink brake in rear.

you array only has 2 wires..........

Oh those don't plug directly into the OEM park/turn output. I have a circuit that regulates the current at 12v and dims the LEDs via pulse width modulation for park function. The stock park/turn output plugs into that circuit, which then outputs to my two arrays. I just used 3157 connectors all around for ease of installment.

Re: Does the WK use a flasher relay?

I think they relay you're referring to is the actual park light relay. It is only to power the park lights and does nothing to control flashing. Was it the outermost and rearmost relay in the underhood fuse block? If so, then all it does is activate all the park lights.

Yeah you're right, this is just a conventional relay. Back to the drawing board. Do you know if it uses the kind of relay that controls the bulb-out indicator or is it all computerized?

edit: from what I'm reading, it seems like either the FCM and the EMIC controls the flash rate but I haven't quite figured out how it's controlled. However, it does say there's a relay soldered onto the EMIC circuit board to emulate the sound emitted by a conventional turn signal flasher so it doesn't sound like there's a simple relay to swap out. bummer

edit2: "Lamp Out Mode: The FCM detects an ineffective turn signal lamp or circuit, it increases the flash rate for the remaining operative turn signals and sends an electronic message to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster then increases the flash rate of the turn signal indicators and the click rate of the electromechanical relay to provide an indication of the problem to the vehicle operator."

Time to hack the FCM lol
